10A | WEDNESDAY, APRIL 3, 2019 | COTTAGE GROVE SENTINEL CHAMBER NEW SLETTER Funding available for electric vehicle charging stations through Pacifi c Power grant program - Submitted by Pacifi c Power Up to $300,000 available to applicant projects that show innovation and creativity around promoting sustainable transportation Pacifi c Power is helping to make its business customers’ electric transpor- tation goals a reality through an electric vehicle charging station grant pro- gram. The program will help fund up to 100 percent of the eligible costs of installing electric vehicle charging stations for selected non-residential applicants. The application cycle opens on April 15, 2019. Up to $300,000 in grants will be available during this cycle with a total of $1.45 million in Oregon awarded in quarterly cycles through the end of 2019. “As an active member in the communities we serve, Pacifi c Power wants to help our customers achieve their sustainable energy goals,” said Cory Scott, director of customer solutions. “The electric vehicle charging sta- tion grant program is one of the ways we’re empowering local businesses, non-profi ts and governments to pick up speed toward more charging op- tions for electric vehicle owners.” Oregon businesses of all sizes installing chargers as an amenity for cus- tomers and employees are eligible to apply. Applications will be accepted up to May 15, 2019 at 5:00 PM. Recipients will be announced June 2019. Cottage Grove Business Challenge - Up to $10,000 in Prize Money, Networking and Mentorship Opportunities, Chance to Pitch to Local Investors In 2017, a local resident and business owner walked into the Cottage Grove Chamber of Commerce offi ce with an idea about how to encourage entrepreneurship, create new jobs and give back to the community that contributed to his own success. Harold Frazier of New Breed Seed Company donated $10,000 and said he simply wanted it to go to someone with a great business plan that would create new jobs in the Cottage Grove area. Th e Chamber of Commerce, Cottage Grove Community Development Corporation and RAIN Eugene joined for several months of meeting, and in those meetings the Cottage Grove Business Challenge was born. Twenty- four hopeful entrepreneurs took the challenge and three were chosen to receive funds to help start/expand their businesses. Th is year entrepreneurs are invited once again, to take the challenge and submit their business plan ideas for a chance to win up to $10,000 in start-up funding.
