She was born on January 6, 1964 in Concord, CA to James C. Kingsbury and Kathy Swatosh. Kathy graduated from the University of Santa Barbara with a bachelor’s degree in jour- nalism. She married Dale Ansite on May 16, 1992 in Santa Barbara, CA. Kathy was an intern for KEYT in Santa Barbara before starting her fi rst business Memory Video, videotaping polo matches and eventually weddings. Kathy and her husband Dale owned and op- erated California Living and Oregon Living TV Media (OLTV), both featuring local businesses and nearby attractions. She was the author of 2 children’s books; Th e Playhouse Story and Woody’s Adventure Series. Kathy enjoyed swimming, gardening, writing, traveling and meditation. She was a member of Kiwanis, Rotary and completed her certifi cation as a Life Coach. Kathy was pas- sionate about helping others and loved people. She believed that everybody wants someone to listen to them. Kathy is survived by her daughter, Christine Ansite, Eugene, OR; her parents, James Kingsbury and Kathy Swatosh. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Ansite on April 8, 2009. In honor of Kathy please make memorial contributions to Mental Health & Suicide Prevention. 1957-2018 Lorena “Rena” Gail Cameron, age 61 of Cottage Grove, OR, passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2018. She was born April 6, 1957 in Huntington Park, California to James P. Slaughter and Eula Mae (Sheets) Gordon. She married JC Cameron in 1975 in Jay, OK. She worked for Lane Communi- ty College performing laundry and custodial duties. Outside of Daniel Thompson Sr. 1937-2018 Oct. 7 A suspicious condition was reported on Main St. when a box doused in lighter fl uid was found in front of a residence at Lorena “Rena” Gail Cameron Our beloved father, brother, grandpa and great papa, Daniel Thompson Sr. of Cottage Grove, passed away on October 2, 2018. He was 80 years old. He was born October 16, 1937 at But- ler’s Maternity Home in Cottage Grove, Oregon to Eldon and Grace Thompson of Curtin, Oregon. He attended school in Curtin, Drain and graduated from Lorane High School in 1955. Daniel enjoyed elk hunting in the Hells Canyon area of North- eastern Oregon, salmon fi shing on the Umpqua River in Reed- sport, working on the family property with his son, Dan, Jr and family gatherings. He was a member of the Lorane Grange for 60+ years. In 1957 he started working for WW Lumber in Cottage Grove. The mill exchanged hands to become Cascade Lumber in 1984 and he continued working for them until the mill closed in 1990. He married Kathryn Yearous on June 10, 1960 in Lorane, Or- egon. She preceded him in death on April 29, 1989. A brother Edward Thompson also preceded him in death on May 7, 1993. Survivors included; Son Daniel Thompson Jr (wife Kelli), Daughter, Rebecca Thompson, Grandson, Justin Thompson, Grandson, Traver Thompson (wife Marie) Great Grandson Damien Thompson, Granddaughter, Tiffani Bertsch (husband Jacob), Brother Gary Thompson (wife Lil) and numerous niec- es and nephews. Graveside interment was held at Fir Grove Cemetery on Octo- ber 6, 2018 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of fl owers, contributions can be made to the Lorane Grange at Po Box 54 Lorane Oregon 97451. Arrangements in the care of Smith Lund Mills Funeral Chapel. Carrol B. Malsbury 1923-2018 Carrol B. Malsbury, 95 of Cot- tage Grove, OR passed away on October 1, 2018. She was born on September 9, 1923 in Hebron, NE to parents Ed- ward L. and Ellen J. (McGrath) Wade. Carrol graduated from Cottage Grove High School in 1941 then married Lowell Murry Malsbury on October 24, 1941 at her parent’s home in Cottage Grove, OR. Along with her husband owned and operated Malsbury Custom Built Homes in CG, building 18 family homes. She was a homemaker, owner and op- erator of an in-home day care center. Carrol was an avid reader, enjoyed spending time with her family, crocheting, knitting, playing the piano & singing, gardening and loved church. She was a life-long work she loved watching her kid’s sports, yard selling, and drinking her sweet tea. She also enjoyed social media between Snapchat and Facebook. Above all else she valued her family. Rena is survived by her son, Jason Ray Cameron of Carson, WA; Daughter, Crystal Gail Cameron of Grants Pass, OR; Brother, Perry J. Slaughter of Lincoln, AR; sisters, Brenda J. Slaughter, Joann Slaughter, and Patsy A. Slaughter all of Cottage Grove, OR and 8 grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, JC Camer- on.
