2B COTTAGE GROVE SENTINEL MAY 2, 2018 B ASEBALL continued from B1 the day and secured a win for the Cottage Grove seniors in their last regular season game at Kelly Field. “I think senior day is some- times tough because these kids are thinking, gosh this is my last game. They’re not focused on what needs to happen. Fam- ily is here, parents they want to impress,” said Geiszler. “They want to go out and hit a homer- un their last home game of their senior year. And that was part of the issue, too. No excuses but sometimes there are reasons.” Geiszler was not the only one who noticed a change on senior night. “It was different. Those fi rst two at-bats, I was really nervous. I don’t know why I couldn’t shake it,” said senior STANDINGS: Team Sky-Em Baseball: League Overall Junction City 9-2 15-5 Sweet Home 7-4 11-7 Sisters 6-3 12-6 Cottage Grove 5-6 8-12 Sutherlin 4-7 10-10 Elmira 0-9 3-13 Sky-Em Softball: Team League Overall Junction City 9-0 16-1 Elmira 8-3 17-7 Sweet Home 7-4 14-6 Sutherlin 5-6 11-8 Cottage Grove 1-8 3-12 Sisters 1-10 2-17 2A/1A SD3 Baesball Team League Overall Monroe (2A) 9-0 Oakridge (2A) 8-1 N.
