Brad Doudna went three-for-three hitting, was walked once and scored two runs. Spencer Moore, Austin Luzier, Jarret Williams and Jeffery Tibbetts all added one hit for the team. Doud- na and Luzier took up the pitching responsibilities as they gave up three hits combined and struck out seven and nine batters respectively. Elkton/Yoncalla Softball The Elks fell on the road 20-6 at Reedsport in their opening game of the season. Elkton Track and Field Last Saturday the team travelled to Jefferson High School in Jefferson, Oregon where they competed at the Small School Invite. On the boys’ side, freshman Trystn Woody took second in high jump, sixth in long jump and ninth in the 100. The team fi nished in 16th place of the 19 teams that competed. Elsewhere on the team Sadie Olson took seventh in discus while Hannah Maxwell was eighth in triple jump. The relay team of Byle, Olson, Maxwell and Kassie Yeany took fi fth. The team fi nished 13th of the 17 teams that competed. Yoncalla/North Douglas Track and Field Last Thursday the combined team kicked off their season at the Frank Good Preamble Classic at Sutherlin High School where they competed against Camas Valley, Powers and Sutherlin. On the boys’ side, Laar- on Lopez fi nished fourth in the 400. Athussos Gilbert, Brody Best and Dylan Grichar fi nished third, fourth and fi fth in the fi ve-person fi eld of the 1500. The team’s 4x100 team (Dominc Aguilar, Jake Gerrard, Jor- dan Aguilar, Bryan Allen) fi nished third of four teams while the 4x400 team (Lopez, Best, Gilert and Devin Davidge) was second of two teams. In the fi eld events, Lopez won him jump with Davidge coming in sec- ond. Gilbert took second in shot put while Nic Johnston fi nished sixth. Allen fi nished third in javelin and Davidge was second in the long jump. On the girls’ side, Samantha Bak- er fi nished second in the 100 and the 4x100 team (Baker, Kaleigh Soto, Natalie Thompson and Jus- tice Cox) fi nished second of three teams. In the fi eld events, Shaunasi Hardy fi nished second in both jav- elin and high jump. In long jump, Soto, Ashley Powers and Baker fi nished second, third and fourth respectively.
