All bad news for an event couched on eating crab. The Cottage Grove Crab Feed announced that it has shifted from its date of Jan. 27 to third Saturday in February in the hopes of having something to fi ll the plates. The event, in its ninth year, benefi ts Habitat for Humanity and routinely draws a crowd. Crab season was initially delayed from its usual Dec. 1 opening to Jan. 15 to allow for the animals to grow, yielding more meat. However, when the season did open, it was at $2.30 a pound--59 cents lower than last year's opening price of $2.89 a pound. Rough ocean conditions also kept boats docked. Tickets sold for the Crab Feed will be honored for the Feb. 17 event and refunds will be distributed to those who cannot accomi- date the date change. For more information, call (541) 767-0358.
