Great Times! %DFNHU''6 After an offensive explosion in the fi rst quarter by both teams, it was Rogue River outlasting Yoncalla for a 41-29 victory on Tuesday night at Yoncalla High School. It started with Shanausi Har- dy getting back-to-back buckets out of the same offensive set; one time she found herself open for a reverse lay-up and the next possession pulled up from 12- feet out and found the bottom of the net. Hardy, who fi nished the game with 10 points, added a three as did teammates Kaleigh Soto and Kenzie Walton. Jamie Glenn joined in on the fun as she scored four of her 10 points in the quarter. Their early lead and offensive outpouring was short-lived. The Eagles had six fi eld goals in the fi rst quarter and had six fi eld goals for the rest of the game. “As they gain legs you know they’ll be able to get their en- durance for the game and stuff like that. You can see that we just kind of tucker out right there in the second, third quar- ter,” said Yoncalla head coach Nicolas Edera. “But when we learn to move Cottage Grove football honored 6/)LUHDQG5HVFXH &RDVW)RUN 6RXWK9DOOH\$WKOHWLFV (PHUDOG)LWQHVV&OXE 6WDUILUH/XPEHU 'DYH¶V3ODFH 6WDWH)DUP ' '$XWR 9LOODJH*UHHQ *URFHU\2XWOHW &RWWDJH*URYH*DUEDJH6HUYLFH :LOOLDPV 0DWKLV By Zach Silva zsilva@cgsentinel.com While the season wrapped up with a championship over a month ago, the awards keep 3B Yoncalla's Shanausi Hardy looks to fi nd an open teammate. the ball we’ll start helping our- looked back. selves and it will allow us to Propelled by Jaydin Spaeth’s rest a little on offense instead 12 points on the game, eight in we like to jack up the fi rst shot the second half, the Chieftains and it turns into YMCA basket- got their lead up to eight in the ball and we’re running back and third quarter and a 6-0 run in the forth up and down the court.” fourth squashed any inklings of Rogue River stayed com- an Eagles comeback. petitive in the fi rst quarter as “I just like the way they fi ght. they hit two threes of their own They’re tough and they go at (neither team hit a three-point- it hard for four quarters and as er after the fi rst quarter) and at long as they want to do that we the end of one trailed 16-13.
