HOLIDAY PROGRAMS and SPECIALS DEC. 9 DEC. 10 Cake Wars The six remaining teams take on the iconic tradition of ugly Christmas sweaters; Santa takes a sick day in the Santa’s Mega Challenge; Chanda Bell and Christa Pitts from The Elf on the Shelf help to judge the results. COOK 7 pm Guy’s Disney Holiday Guy explores the holiday-themed meals and treats at Disneyland. FOOD 7 pm Modern Family The family puts together a quick Christmas celebration when they realize they won’t be together on the actual day. USA 7 pm Seinfeld George and his father celebrate an al- ternative holiday; Kramer goes back to work after a long bagel strike. TBS 7:30 pm Modern Family Claire and Phil threaten to take away Christmas when the kids get into trouble; Cameron and Mitchell take Lily to have her first picture taken with Santa. USA 7:30 pm Cake Wars The five remaining teams are chal- lenged to make edible toys; when Santa’s sleigh is broken the teams must create magical and mys- terious displays of Santa’s new ride; author Joy Cho helps to judge the results. COOK 8 pm Cake Wars The four remaining teams are chal- lenged to take Christmas intergalactic and create displays of Santa in space; the teams must bring world-famous Christmas songs to life in a huge edible creation; actor Devin Ratray helps to judge the results. COOK 9 pm Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives In Henderson- ville, Tenn., a barbecue joint serves up a shoulder pull and a holiday ham; in Nashville, traditional Mexican tamales and quinoa sweet potato tacos. FOOD 9 pm Cake Wars The remaining three teams create displays celebrating the 50th anniversary of “A Charlie Brown Christmas”; Lindsey Schultz, artist and granddaughter of “Peanuts” creator Charles M. Schulz, helps judge the results. COOK 10 pm Ro’s Tasty Treats: Holiday Holiday entertaining with Rosanna Pansino. COOK 7 pm Holiday Baking Championship The seven re- maining bakers take classic flavors to a new level; a swirled treat using eggnog; different versions of sugar and spice for a special dessert. FOOD 7 pm Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas Boris Karloff narrates an animated tale about the lonely and heartless title character who decides to dress up as Santa and steal the Christmas decora- tions, gifts and feast from the people of Whoville. TBS 7:30 pm Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer The reindeer with the incandescent nose guides Santa’s sleigh through a bad storm on Christmas Eve. Based on the song by Johnny Marks. CBS 8 pm Rev Run’s Happy Holidays Rev’s family makes Ninjabread men; rich and creamy hot cocoa; Always on Time Prime Rib; Justin’s Cheesy But- termilk Garlic Mash; Diggy’s Colorful Carrots. COOK 8 pm Holiday Baking Championship The six remain- ing bakers take on making pies; the first challenge has the bakers using a store-bought crust; the sec- ond challenge involves three different pies and three different crusts. FOOD 8 pm The Elf on the Shelf: An Elf’s Story An elf named Chippey tries to help a young boy who is struggling to believe in the magic of Christmas. CW 9 pm And whatever happened to these “classics”? Am I the only one thinking about the good ol’ holiday days? Like back (30 years ago – eek!) when Peter came home to surprise his family for Christmas and everyone in the house awakens to the smell of Folgers coffee? The best part of waking up ... ah! Some of our childhood favorites are those that don’t seem to get their glittering moment under the yearly TV tree anymore. So TV-programming Santa, if you’re reading this, we promise we’ve been good all year (except for maybe that one time we tapped the bumper of our boss’s car – sorry!) so please bring back “Bugs Bunny’s Looney Christmas Tales” and “A Garfield Christmas Special.” Hey, our hearts and choice of music may forever be stuck in the ‘80s but at least our hair is not!
