COTTAGE GROVE SENTINEL October 12, 2016 BRIEFS FROM BEYOND CG Yoncalla care baskets Care and Share is a Yoncalla char- ity that began with the efforts of Joyce Evarts in the 1970s. Evarts passed away this year, and friends say it was her wish that the giving of Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets would continue after her passing. Funding for the baskets comes from donations and is used to pur- chase any food not provided by the canned food drive conducted by the Yoncalla schools. Dona- tions can be left at the Yoncalla City Hall or sent to: Care and Share, 610 Elkhead Rd., Yoncalla, OR 97499. For further informa- tion contact Donna Dick at 541- 849-2772. Lane Co. Preparations can include clearing rain gutters and drainage ditches, repairing roof leaks, cutting back heavy tree branches that could fall on structures, checking the structural strength of roofs to sustain unusual weight from snow or rain, insulating pipes to protect from freezing, making sure car- bon monoxide detectors and fi re alarms are in good working order and keeping a NOAA weather radio handy. Lane County Emergency Man- agement is asking residents to help us help them by completing a less than 5-minute online survey about hazards residents are most concerned about. The survey can be found at this link or by doing a friend search on Facebook for Help Improve Lane County.
