No services will be available, and no classes or events will be held unless otherwise scheduled by a department or program. Lane’s Florence Center will be closed on Mondays and Fridays summer term starting Monday, June 20, and continuing through Friday, Aug. 19 and completely closed from Saturday, Aug. 20, through Monday, Sept. 5. Lane’s Cottage Grove Center will be closed on Mondays and Fridays during summer term starting Monday, June 20 and continuing through Friday, Aug. 26. Offi cer-involved shooting On Tuesday, June 14 at about 3:06 p.m., Douglas County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of a disturbance with shots fi red at 2306 Happy Valley Road in Roseburg. When Deputies arrived, they say they found a 19-year old female in the driveway who had been shot. The shooter was re- ported to be on foot in the area. Law enforcement offi cers from all around Douglas County re- sponded to the incident. While attending to the injured woman, the suspect fi red a shot at the law enforcement offi cers who returned fi re. The suspect was later found to be deceased. Preliminary indication at the scene is that the male suspect died from an apparent self-in- fl icted gunshot wound. The Douglas County Major Crimes Team is investigating the incident with the Oregon State Police being the lead in- vestigative agency. The female was transported to Mercy Medical Center and later transferred via Air Ambulance to Sacred Heart at Riverbend in Springfi eld and is expected to survive. Weinhold reported he suffered a stab wound from 51- year old Kevin Grant Ray dur- ing a confrontation where they began to fi ght. During the alter- cation, Kevin Ray also allegedly stabbed Weinhold in the chest. Police say Ray fl ed the scene prior to the arrival of emergency responders. Medics transported Weinhold to River Bend Hospital in Eu- gene. He is expected to survive. Law enforcement offi cers conducted a search of the area and were unable to locate Ray. If anyone has any information in regards to the whereabouts of Kevin Ray, they are encouraged to contact the Douglas County Sheriff’s Offi ce at 541-440- 4471. Lane County, the United States Forest Service (USFS) and Oregon State Parks hosted a grand opening ceremony on Friday, June 17 to mark the re- opening of the Archie Knowles Campground and Day Use Area. An $84,976 grant from the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department and a $58,838 grant from the Siuslaw National For- est made the rehabilitation of the park possible, and an agreement with the USFS will allow Lane County to manage the 4.5-acre site into the future. Reopening the campground has been a pri- ority of area residents since the camp was closed by the United States Forest Service in 2012. Archie Knowles Campground was named for a former For- est Service ranger who was the child of early area settlers Albert and Lillian Knowles. Moveable Feet Moveable Feet will host a picnic and dance Wednesday, July 6 from 6 p.m. until dark at Holt Park in central Creswell (at the corner of Fifth and A Sts.). Curtin stabbing On Thursday, June 16 at ap- proximately 11 p.m., Douglas County Emergency Communi- cations said it received a report of a stabbing that occurred in the 1400 block of Curtin Road in Curtin.
