hunger, heat and cold.

WHAT WE ACCOMPLISHED IN
2015
SPAY/NEUTER RESOURCES
h e heat of summer is fast
approaching. Tips to help keep your pets
safe and healthy:
• Make sure they have shade and water.
Ice cubes in the water bowl, or a towel,
ringing wet and put in the freezer for
awhile, can help keep them cool.
• Do not leave them in a vehicle, even if
the windows are rolled down. Animals,
and children, die every year from being
let inside a vehicle.
• Walking dogs on pavement in the heat of
the day can burn their pads, and they
can get very overheated.
• Transferred 188 dogs and cats to
appropriate shelters
• Used 300 spay/neuter coupons
• 139 cats and dogs were assisted through
our low-income spay/neuter programs
• Put 19,276 miles on the van, transporting
animals to shelters, barn cats to new
homes, assisting with our sales --
Christmas bazaar, plant sales, name
your price sales, and community

Say NO To Pets on Pot
As of October 1st, 2015, marijuana can legally be sold to the public at
marijuana dispensaries.
h e Oregon Veterinary Medical Association urges pet parents to
become familiar with new guidelines provided by them to reduce the
potential risk of marijuana poisoning to dogs and cats.
* Keep all marijuana plants, as well as products and foods containing
marijuana away from pets. Secure storage in pet-proof containers or
locked cabinets is recommended.
* If your pet ingests marijuana, seek veterinary care promptly. Inform your
veterinarian what your pet has ingested so that proper care can be
administered.
*Pets may show symptoms within 30-60 minutes of inhalation or ingestion.
Symptoms may include glassy eyes, lack of coordination, disorientation,
dilated pupils, drowsiness, agitation or excitement (in dogs), urinary
incontinence, vomiting, tremors, seizures or unconsciousness.
*Consult your vet before giving your pet any medication, herb or
supplement. h e ei cacy of marijuana as a treatment for pets is
