8A COTTAGE GROVE SENTINEL April 6, 2016 CHAMBER NEWSLETTER Our Mission: h e Cottage Grove Area Chamber of Commerce is organized to promote the economy and business environment of the Cottage Grove area so its citizens and businesses will prosper. 2016 Chamber Goals • Increase membership by 25/year • Increase networking opportunities by one/ month • Increase advertising ef orts outside Cottage Grove • Organize and be viewed as a business conduit and resource for businesses • Improve communication about legislative issues af ecting business DIRECTOR’S NOTE Want to know what to look forward to in Cottage Grove this Summer? In addition to a summer schedule packed with events, the Cottage Grove Chamber of Commerce is working to bring our members more networking opportunities, more training opportunities and more information about local, state and federal issues that af ect small businesses. Another marketing project is underway that will showcase Cottage Grove as a destination community and feature our many great attractions such as the covered bridges, world class cycling and renowned wine production and tourism. Events to look forward to in the summer of 2016 in Cottage Grove April 29 th - Art Walk begins in Cottage Grove’s Historic District On the last Friday of each month through October, local businesses stay open late and display the works of local artisans and crat smen. 6-8pm at participating businesses. Look for the yellow l ags! June 5 th – h e Oregon Gran Fondo h is Italian-style bicycle event is great for families as well as experienced racers. Pick your course and ride some of the most scenic areas in Cottage Grove and all of Oregon. June 22 nd through September 14 th – Concerts in the Park at the Bohemia Park Amphitheater FREE, family friendly outdoor concerts from 6:30-8pm (weather permitting) Bring the family, unplug, and enjoy great music and fun every Wednesday night. June 25 th – Wings & Wheels at the Cottage Grove Air Port. Aircrat and autos, modern and vintage on display from 11am to 4pm July 8 th & 9 th – h e Cottage Grove Rodeo July 14 th through 17 th – h e Bohemia Mining Days Festival will set up at Coiner and Bohemia Parks. Music, entertainment, games, food, vendors, a carnival and more. Don’t miss the Grand Miner’s Parade on Saturday! July 18 th – h e Eugene Symphony returns to the Bohemia Park Amphitheater for a fantastic and FREE performance. July 23 rd – Main Street Chili Cook-Of paired with KNND’s Rock, Roll, ‘N Rumble Car Show and Cruise. Both events will take place in Historic Downtown Cottage Grove on Main Street. Cool cars and hot chili make this a good time for the entire family! All Day Saturday. h e cruise starts at 6pm. July 23 rd – h e Rolf Prima Tri at h e Grove A top rated triathlon featuring Cottage Grove Lake and surrounding areas July 30 th – Jim Wright Memorial Stearman Fly-In at the Cottage Grove Airport Vintage Stearman aircrat on display and Biplane rides August 13 th – Buster Keaton Day and 90 th Anniversary Celebration of h e General h is special day will feature a FREE outdoor showing of h e General at the Bohemia Park Amphitheater accompanied by live musicians to provide the i lm score. Submit your events for free! LOOKING FOR A WAY TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE? Chamber members and their employees can participate on any of the Chamber committees. Below are our current chamber committees and their purpose. BUDGET AND FINANCE COMMITTEE Meet 11:00am the 2 nd Tuesday/mo at Chamber oi ce. h is committee shall be responsible for assisting the Treasurer and the Executive Director with the creation of the annual budget for adoption by the Board. And the committee will make recommendations regarding funding and support, as well as i nancial practices for the benei t of the Board, Treasurer, and Executive Director. *Works w/Director on developing and reviewing budget. BYLAWS/POLICIES & PROCEDURES COMMITTEE – h is committee shall be responsible for review and recommendation to the Board of updates, as necessary annually, of the Chamber Bylaws and Policies & Procedures. h e Committee will also make sure that where correlation between the two documents is necessary that one will accurately support and rel ect the other. *Review By-Laws and Policies & Procedures and make recommendations for change to conform with business practices. GREETERS Meet 8:00am the 2nd h ursday/mo at Village Green Resort. h e purpose of the Cottage Grove Area Chamber of Commerce Greeters Committee is to aid the Chamber in welcoming new business people and their i rms to the area, provide a forum to welcoming delegates to selected conventions and special events a requested, visiting selected cities and other Greeter groups during the year, assisting the Chamber to gain new members to the Chamber as well as to the Greeters, manage ribbon cuttings and Business At er Hours functions, of er support at events, maintain the Greeter’s l oat and do fund raising for various charitable and educational purposes. PROMOTIONS COMMITTEE Meet at 6:15pm the 3 rd Tuesday/mo at various locations h e purpose of the promotions committee is to support and promote the Chamber through community events, fundraisers, and such other activities that support the Chamber’s mission and role within the community. Some of those events are: * Annual Awards & Installation Banquet * Chili Cook-of * Christmas in Cottage Grove TRAINING, EDUCATION, AND MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE – Meet at noon the 2nd Wednesday/mo at various locations. h e purpose of the TEAM committee is to maintain and promote the growth of the Chamber membership. h e membership committee will seek to create and foster member benei t programs and member activities in keeping with the Chamber mission. h ose include: * Membership enhancement events * Review Dues Structure and make recommendations for change as necessary * Mentor program * Organize Chamber forums * Make recommendations for membership orientation program TOURISM COMMITTEE Meet from 10:15 – 11:45am the 2 nd h ursday/mo in the Shepherd Room at the Community Center. h e purpose of the Tourism Committee is to develop and market the “Cottage Grove Brand” and support visitor readiness. h e tourism committee will assist the director in marketing and advertising of tourism related events. h e Tourism Committee meets monthly. Meeting location, time and place may be set or changed at the direction of the Chair. ANOTHER WAY TO PROMOTE YOUR BUSINESS THROUGH THE CHAMBER h e 2016 Concerts in the Park take place every Wednesday evening between 6:30pm and 8pm from June 22 nd through September 14 th .** 2016 marks the 14th year of our Concerts in the Park series. At er moving the concerts to Bohemia Park Amphitheater we’ve had more attendance than ever before! Hundreds of people attend each week, and thousands attend throughout the course of the season. Please help us continue to provide this FREE, family-friendly event for another season of great music and fun! SUPPORTING SPONSOR: $350*** (per concert/week) Maximum of 4 per week Benei ts for Supporting Sponsor Includes: • Opportunity to hang company banner at the concert • Verbal recognition from the microphone as that week’s supporting sponsor at the beginning, middle, and end of concert • Recognition in Chamber Weekly email • Recognition in the Chamber Newsletter in the sponsor month(s) • Published on the Chamber Website Community Calendar and other places as picked up by local media • Identii ed in our initial press release prior to the season opener • Logo placement or business name on all promotional materials for that week’s event • Opportunity to set up an information table and/ or give-a-way of promotional materials and additional banners from their display on the date of the sponsored event • Sponsor may also place an ad at no charge to be run in the Chamber Weekly email during the week of their sponsorship GET A DISCOUNT BY SPONSORING MULTIPLE CONCERTS: 2 concerts for only $600 ($300 each) or 5 concerts for $1,000 ($200/each) **Concert cancellations may occur due to poor weather or other unforeseeable circumstances. In the event of a cancellation, the Chamber will refund half of the sponsorship amount or may issue a credit towards another sponsorship opportunity. BUSINESS AFTER HOURS Banner Bank will host Business At er Hours this month. Join us on h ursday, April 21 from 5:30 – 7:00pm, 25 Gateway Blvd. Bring your business card to enter the door prize drawing, network with others, learn something new, and have some fun! Your attendance reinforces the spirit in which the Chamber provides these monthly activities. We look forward to seeing you there!
