Newspaper Page TextCOTTAGE GROVE SENTINEL February 3, 2016 MS Regionals BASKETBALL CONTINUED FROM PG 1B The Lions delivered a 52-15 whopping of the Huskies to give Sweet Home its 12th loss of the season. Cottage Grove held Sweet Home to only three fi rst-half points, leading 26-3. Before tak- ing off the pressure and allowing for the bench to get some play time, the Lions went on a 19-3 run in the third quarter, putting the game out of reach. Techni- cally, the game was already out of reach. The Lions could have scored zero second-half points and still would have won by a comfortable 11 points. This game saw a much im- proved 34 percent fi eld goal rate, but the Lions only sank three out of six free throws. Only making three free throws is a great sta- tistic in this case, because that means 49 points came from the fi eld of play. Even more so, the CONTINUED FROM PG 1B Huskies were 11-of-29 on free throws, meaning that the Li- ons only allowed four points in the entire game without fouls. That’s right, Sweet Home only sank two fi eld goals in the entire game. Murphy and Thielman were the night’s top scorers with 11 points each. Murphy was an outstanding 100 percent from the fi eld and the free-throw line; she didn’t miss a single shot all game. Thielman was fi ve of 14 from the fi eld, but the senior had nine rebounds (the most of any that night), three assists and three steals. The Lions' offense saw production from another sophomore, Sierra Blomquist, who scored seven points on the night and had the most assists in the game (fi ve). Senior Dana Caro also scored seven points, along with a whopping 11 de- fl ections and six steals. The Lions may not have high Douglas G.
