2D COTTAGE GROVE SENTINEL December 30, 2015 Dorena Happenings continued building. In this instance, classrooms are locked down. In lockdown drills, students practice staying out of sight and blocking an intruder’s access. Counseling Options Mrs. Scrima has been working on getting coun- selors to see students at Dorena School. If your child could benefi t from counseling, please, con- tact the school. If Scrima is able to justify a signifi - cant need, we may be able to offer counseling ser- vices at Dorena School. FAD In January, Dorena will be starting Round II of Fun Afternoons at Dorena. We are looking for com- munity members who are willing to work with a small group of students on an enrichment activity. We offer a big “Thank you!” to Stacey Atwell- Keister, Evelyn Doolittle, Olivia Scrima, and Peggy Cameron for volunteer- ing their time and efforts to make FAD Round I a success. Leading an enrichment activity is a great way to get involved in students’ lives and offer opportunities to them that they wouldn’t normally be able to experience. Previ- ous enrichment groups have included activities such as book club, deco- ration making, puppet making, music, dance, chess, basketball, jewelry making, and bible studies. We look forward to many of the returning leaders and other possible activi- ties such as quilting. If you are interested in lead- ing a FAD group, please, contact the offi ce or send a note to school with your child.
