Back to School 2015 School Opening Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2015, will be the opening day of school in South Lane. With many of the schools using a stag- gered start, parents should refer to the information provided by their child’s school. Parents of students new to the district can contact the District Service Center if unsure which school your child will be attending. Enrollment Approximately 2,600 students are expected to be attending South Lane schools this year . Bus Schedule A bus route schedule will be mailed in late August to the homes of all current students. Questions can be directed to the Transportation Department at (541)942-2803 Registration, Attendance Areas and School Hours Elementary Schools The registration for elementary students who are new to the district will begin on Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2015. All students entering kindergarten must be fi ve years of age on or before September 1. Certifi cation of birth date is required at the time of registration. Bohemia Elementary School (K-5) Principal: Heather Bridgens (541-942-3313) Offi ce Manager: Tammy Bennett Assistent Principal: Laurie Melendy The Bohemia attendance area in- cludes the area in Cottage Grove west of the railroad tracks including Bennett Creek Drive, River Road N., River Road S., and the Silk Creek-Gowdyville areas. The southern boundary is the intersec- tion of River Road S. and Highway 99 S. Students who live in the area north of Main Street, west of Gateway Boule- vard, and south of the Cottage Grove connector will also attend Bohemia. The school day begins at 8:20 a.m. and ends at 2:30 p.m. Beginning Wednesday, September 9, all students will be released at 1:30 p.m. on Wednes- days. Bohemia students will receive a letter explaining a staggered start which will be September 9-10. Harrison Elementary School (K-5) Principal: Ali Nice (541-942-3389) Offi ce Manager: Gayle McFarland The Harrison attendance area in- cludes the area in Cottage Grove east of the railroad tracks. The northern bound- ary is Main Street. The southern bound- ary is where I-5 crosses Sixth Street and just north of Howard Loop off Hillside Drive. The eastern boundary is the junc- tion of Row River Road at Bryson Sears Road and the junction of Mosby Creek Road at Garoutte Road. Students that live on Bryson Sears Road will attend Harrison Elementary. Students that live on Garoutte Road will attend Dorena School. The school day begins at 8:20 a.m. and ends at 2:30 p.m. Beginning Wednesday, September 9, all students will be released at 1:30 p.m. on Wednes- days. Dorena School (K-8) Principal: Kim Scrima (541-946-1506) Offi ce Manager: Kathy Ward The Dorena attendance area starts at Dowens Road and goes east. It in- cludes both sides of Dorena Reservoir, Gillespie Road, and Garoutte Road. Students that live on Mosby Creek past the junction of Garoutte Rd. are in the Dorena attendance area. The school day begins at 8:20 a.m. and ends at 2:30 p.m. There is a free breakfast reading program that begins in all classrooms at 8:00 a.m. Beginning Wednesday, September 9, all students will be released at 1:30 p.m. on Wednes- days. Latham Elementary School (K-5) Principal: Anne Fisk (541-942-0147) Offi ce Manager: Shelly Baird The northern boundary of the Latham attendance area is Sweet Lane on Highway 99 S. It includes Talemena Drive. The northern boundary on South Sixth Street is the I-5 crossing, including Taylor Butte Road and the Howard Loop area. The southern boundary on London Road is Hooten's Corner below Cottage Grove Lake. The school day begins at 8:20 a.m. and ends at 2:30 p.m. Beginning Wednesday, September 9, all students will be released at 1:30 p.m. on Wednes- days. London School (K-8) Principal: Bill Bechen (541-942-0183) Offi ce Manager: April Sexton The London attendance area includes the area south of Hooten's Corner. The school day begins at 8:20 a.m. and ends at 2:30 p.m. Beginning Wednesday, September 9, all students will be released at 1:30 p.m. on Wednes- days. Secondary Schools Lincoln Middle School (6-8) Principal: Jeremy Smith (541-942- 3316) Assistant Principal: Emily Wren Offi ce Manager: Heather Nordella Students in grade 6 only will report on Wednesday, September 9, and buses will operate with dismissal at 2:00 p.m. Sixth grade students should NOT bring school supplies on this fi rst day of school. All students will report on Thursday, September 10, and the buses will operate on regular schedules and afternoon dismissal will be at 3:00 p.m. Cafeteria lunches will be served on both days. School begins at 8:10 a.m. daily. Dismissal is at 3:00 p.m. (2:00 p.m. on Wednesdays). All Middle School students NEW to the district should contact the Lin- coln Middle School offi ce after August 11 at 541-942-3316 to schedule an appointment with a counselor. Registration: Wednesday, Septem- ber 2, 2015, 9:00 am to 12:00 noon and 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm. There are no grade levels assigned to these times – parents may come to whichever time works best. Students may pick up their schedules, pay any fees, and purchase physical education clothes. School pictures will be taken at registration. Language Arts/Social Stud- ies teachers will make locker assign- ments on the fi rst day of classes. LMS Fall Athletic Registration Middle school athletes can sign up for athletics at www.familyid. com. Lincoln offers the following fall sports: Football and Cross Country for all grades and Volleyball for 7th & 8th grade girls. 6th grade volleyball players play thru South Valley Athletics. Our new fee schedule for ALL stu- dents is: 1st and 2nd sports $50.00 each 13 and the 3rd sport is Free! Scholarships will not be available this year. 6th grade football players pay an additional $16.00 for Pop Warner AAU Insurance. Physicals must be turned in and fees paid by August 16. Football: Practice for all grades starts August 17 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Practice times will change to 3:30 -5:30 when school starts. Football registration is open throughout the season. 7/8 Volleyball: Practice starts Au- gust 17 from 3:30 -5:30. Registration is limited to 48 players. Registration closes August 16. Late registration requires permission from LMS Athletic Director, Cheri Nelson, 541-214-6044. 6th grade volleyball is offered through South Valley Athletics. Cross Country: Check the LMS website for practice times. All athletes are required to have a physical on fi le in the offi ce. Physi- cals are good for 2 years. Forms can be downloaded from familyid.com. Low cost physicals will be offered at Cottage Grove High School on Au- gust 10th & 11th from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. • Current physicals are required for all athletes. • Reduced fee physicals are offered by appointment ONLY at Prime Med Urgent Care, 1445 Gateway Blvd (942- 7000) for $35.00. If possible, please bring some proof of enrollment such as last year’s student body card. • Impact testing is scheduled for Monday, August 10 and Tuesday, Au- gust 11 at 6:00 p.m., 6:45 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Testing takes approximately 30 minutes. If parent/guardians don't care to take advantage of any of these offers, they should schedule an appointment with their child’s regular doctor. School Hours: The school day will begin at 8:10 a.m. and end at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday for Lincoln Middle School stu- dents. School will begin at 8:10 a.m. and end at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesdays. The cafeteria will open at 7:45 a.m. and hallways will be open at 8:00 a.m., Monday through Friday.
