2B COTTAGE GROVE SENTINEL , Aug 19th, 2015 Men's Golf Scores S PEEDWAY Continued from Page 1B Springfi eld’s Jake Mayden would show a lot of speed in the IMCA Modifi ed main as he looked to win two races in a row. Mayden would lose the lead on lap 13 shortly after a re- start. Mark Wauge, from Jack- sonville, would be the driver to take over the position. Wauge, who started 13th, would pull away to win his fi rst race of the year at CGS. Collen Winebarger of Cor- bett would get second and behind him in third was Med- ford’s Monte Bischoff. Cottage Grove teenager Kinzer Cox was fourth, followed by fellow Cot- tage Grove racer Curtis Towns, in fi fth. The Late Model main event would see early dominance by Collen Winebarger. The Dis- count Race Car Parts/Finish- Line Graphics/Sweere Trucking #S MasterSbilt, of Winebarger, would lead until after a lap thir- teen restart. On the fourteenth circuit, Curtis Towns would emerge as the new leader. Towns stayed in the spot the rest of the way to win his seventh race of the season for car owner Paul Culp Collen Winebarger was the runner-up, followed by Eugene’s Randy Martin in third. Com- pleting the top fi ve was Coos Bay teenager Preston Luckman in fourth, Britton Donahoo, from Salem, got fi fth. The Street Stocks would have an extremely entertaining race. Chris Sine of Eugene was the early trailblazer in his Camaro. Sine would be put under a bit of pressure and eventually passed on lap eight by Jasper’s Andrew Langan. Langan would briefl y hold the coveted position until after a lap 12 restart that got Sine back in the lead. Chris Sine was not out of the woods quite yet. The Monte Carlo of Jeff Casto from Cot- tage Grove and Andrew Lan- gan would both put some heat on Sine. But Sine would keep all challengers in check to win his seventh victory of the cam- paign. Andrew Langan was second, and Jeff Casto would come home in third. Evan Britton of Cottage Grove was fourth, and completing the fi nishing order was the Crooks Racing #00 Nova of Darryl Crooks in fi fth. Finally, in the Quality RV Repair Hornets, Joe Maricle of Veneta would put together a dominating performance. Mar- icle got to the front and stayed there. The only thing slowing him down was the several cau- tions over the course of the main event. Maricle would capture his fi fth win in 2015. Josh Corley of Westfi r would place in second, and behind him in third was Dale Jenkinson from Marcola. Brandon Letsom, also of Marcola, was fourth, while Jasper’s Eric Ashley got fi fth. The Cottage Grove Speedway was dormant during the week- end of Aug. 15 due to the West- ern Oregon Exposition. CGS is back in action on Saturday Aug. 22 for the Logger’s Cup. This is a race that was a regular oc- currence in the 1980s and 90s and will pay $1,500 to win for the Late Models. Also racing will be the Northwest Wingless Tour, IMCA Sport Mods, Street Stocks, and Northwest Focus Midget Series. For more infor- mation log on to www.cottage- grovespeedway.com.
