WOE HERITAGE FAIR 2015 Featuring Mike Forrester M ike Forrester is from Ideleyld, Oregon. He is a third- T- Shirts generation competitor in the Stihl Timbersports Series, following his grandfather and father. He competes in over 14 events per year in the Western U.S. and Sydney, Australia. He is the 2000 Double Hand Sawing Champion (World Championships Albany Timber Carnival) and the 1998-1999 Single Hand Sawing Cham- pion (World Championships Albany Timber Carnival). Mike trains for events by lifting, running and doing the “Six Disciplines”. His favorite event is the Hot Saw. His latest biography statistics list his height at 6 feet, weighing 250 lbs. He works as a contractor and enjoys hunting, fi shing and coaching wrestling. He played foot- ball for Oregon State University and also has appeared on “The Colbert Report." Featuring Melvin Lentz M elvin Lentz, known as "Melvis - The King of the Lumberjacks", hails from Diana, West Virginia. He be- gan competing at 11 years old. Locally, his grandfather, Ben Lentz, competed at the Albany Timber Carnival during the 1940. His father, Mervin, and his uncle, Corky, took up the sport during the 1960's. Growing up, Mel traveled to a few shows with his father and learned he could pick up a few dollars in the axe throwing events. When his father retired, he started traveling to more and more events. He was the fi rst and only American to win the 375mm Underhand World Title at the Royal Easter Show during 1985. He also managed to win the single hand sawing world title fi ve times at Sydney. He began competing in the Stihl Timbersports Series when it began in 1985. He has won six US Stihl Timber- sports Series titles during his career. His son, Jason, also carries on the family tradition competing in the Series. Mel trains for events and competitions by weight train- ing and practicing. His latest biography statistics list his height at 6'4", weighing 240 lbs. He works as a logger and enjoys hunting. Featuring TJ Bexten F rom March to October, Central Park, Wash- ington’s T.J. Bexten competes almost every weekend in logging competitions across the country. Outside of his packed competition schedule, Bexten also runs a cut and contract- ing crew in the state of Washington. At the 2014 WOE Fair, the Gene Campbell Memorial Logging Show could have been renamed the T.J. Bexten Logging Show. Over the annual, two-day competition, Bex- ten emerged from a well-respected fi eld with seven fi rst-place trophies. He won the 30-inch single cut, hot saw three-cut and modifi ed pow- er saw events – which were contested on both Friday and Saturday. He added an axe throw title on Saturday.
