June 18, 2015 To Stephanie Brophy and Jesse Rook of Cottage Grove, a daughter. D ee and Margie Anderson of Cottage Grove recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. The couple met while Dee was stationed at Fort Sill, Okla. in the U.S. Army. They were married June 6, 1955 in Lawton, Okla. and moved to Cottage Grove in 1966. Dee worked for AT&T for 32 years; Margie was a home- maker. Their children are David and wife Saman- tha Anderson of Springfi eld, Arlyn and wife Joyce Anderson, Sharon and husband Brad Markham and Judy and husband Tim Quick, all of Cottage Grove. The couple has 13 grand- children and eight great-grandchildren. She was born Nov. 24, 1932 in Green Val- ley, Minn. to Harry and Violet (Kimball) Paulson. On April 10, 1954 in Menah- ga, Minn., she and Richard John Zoll were married. LaDonna worked at Lucky U, Village Green and Hoovers Shoe Store. She enjoyed camping, fi sh- ing, hunting, gardening, crafts, garage sales, and most of all spending time with family and friends. She cherished her dog, Bart, and her cat, Callie. LaDonna is survived by her husband, John Zoll of Cot- tage Grove, a daughter, Gyn- ger Hoover and husband Jim of Cottage Grove, two sons, Bruce LORANE COUNTRY NEWS BY LIL THOMPSON For the Sentinel L orane Grange begins its re-roofi ng project this Saturday, June 27 at 6 a.m., and help from all Lorane grangers is needed. There is plenty of ground work to be done, and they will be working all week- end. The Lorane community is invited by the Lorane Rebekah Lodge to an appreciation dinner this Saturday, June 27 at 2 p.m. This meal of hot dogs, pulled pork, side dishes and desserts is FREE to the community as a thank-you for all the donations and support with their founda- tion project. Summer movie camp is re- turning. Contact Alyssa Shep- herd for more information. The next meeting of the Lo- rane Celebration committee is scheduled for July 9 at 6:30 p.m. To rent a table at the Grange or have a home put on the map, contact Lil Thompson at 541- 942-5701. The date is Sept. 12. There will be many interesting events throughout the day. Important information for all Crow Middle/High School stu- dents for registration for this up- coming school year: On these dates, the offi ce will be open to help review and fi nalize your class schedules: Tuesday, Aug. 25, 11 a.m.-7 p.m. for seniors; Wednesday, Aug. 26, 10 am-8 p.m. for ninth, tenth and 11th grades; and Aug. 27 from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. for grades 7-8 and new students. Also, on Aug. 26, they will have sport physicals. Fall sports sign-up night is Aug. 13 at 6 p.m. and is a mandatory meeting for all parents and ath- letes. It may seem far away, but put these dates on your calen- dar! PLEASE SLOW DOWN in and around the central part of Lorane! We have kids and par- ents walking along the road near the stores and Post Offi ce. Also, many residents on Old Lorane Road have reported cars going way too fast. There are people walking, dogs and cats on the road, and sometimes horses. Be cautious of others! The Lorane Growers Market has temporarily moved to the Lorane Family Store. Those with extra produce are asked to share. There are no set prices. All the proceeds go towards the Lorane Community Association’s com- munity service projects, includ- ing the annual Angel Tree. This enables many to purchase and share locally grown produce. Little Coffee Hours at the Re- bekah Lodge begin on Wednes- day, July 1. Come down for cof- fee and muffi ns from 7-9 a.m. and visiting every Wednesday morning. He was born June 8, 1974, in Mount Ayr, Iowa to Jim and Janelle (Payne) Hetherington. David graduated from William Chrisman High School, Independence, Missouri. He worked for Godfather’s Pizza, Mr. Goodcents, Q Street Billiards in Springfi eld, OR and Gateway Restaurant, Drain, OR. David enjoyed his dog Farley, playing pool, hanging out with friends, watching wrestling, playing cards, Star Wars, the Kansas City Royals and Chiefs. He was a member of the Community of Christ Church. David is survived by his parents James and Janelle Hetherington, Cottage Grove, OR, grandfather Dale Payne, sisters Laura Hetherington, Krissy Morgan and husband Tim, brothers Jonathan, Steven, James Hetherington, nieces Alexis and Melody Morgan and nephew Levi Hetherington. Kathleen “Kathy” Marie Hewlett May 29, 1953 – June 16, 2015 Kathleen “Kathy” Marie Hewlett peacefully passed away on Tues- day, June 16, 2015 at Riverbend Hospital. She was born May 29, 1953 in Jamestown, NY to Rudolph “Rudy” and Joyce Buck. On June 27, 1969 she married the love of her life, Alfred Hewlett III in Reno, NV. She was known for her love of crafts, her obsession with rocks, and for her loving and caring spirit. Family was most important to her. She was her family’s center and their rock. Kathy will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Kathy was proceeded in death by her parents and her fi rst daughter Penny. Kathy is survived by her husband Alfred; her daughter Kristin “Kristy”; her two sons and their wives: Grant and his wife Laura, Paul and his wife Amy. Also surviving her are her grandchildren, Byron, Brandon, Hailey, Matthew, and Josiah; and her great-grandson, Eli. A memorial service will be held at 11am, Saturday June 27 at the Church of the Nazarene in Cottage Grove. The offi ciant will be Cindy Slaymaker.
