2A COTTAGE GROVE SENTINEL June 17, 2015 IN MEMORIAM Tommy Ray Frazier 1949-2015 Tommy Ray Frazier, 66, of Cottage Grove passed away June 10, 2015. He was born May 22, 1949 to John and Evelyn (Vincent) Fra- zier. To m m y attended Creswell H i g h School. Mr. Fra- zier worked as a nursing aid at the VA Hospital in Roseburg, as a truck driver in McMinnville for Westinghouse Company, helped with senior meals for Lane County Senior Services, was a cook at the Snack Shack in Creswell and was head cook in the kitchen for 18 years for the Lane County Sheriff’s Offi ce. He was pre- sented with awards by Lane County Food Services and the Lane County Deputy. He loved cooking, taking care of his tomatoes, spend- ing time with family, canning salsa, playing card games and dice, and watching old westerns on TV. Even though he never married, he was a very devoted brother, uncle, son and friend. He was loved very much by his family and friends. He will be greatly missed. Survivors include brothers, Bob Frazier of Yoncalla, John Sturgis of Creswell, Ronald Fra- zier of Eagle, Idaho and Donald Frazier of Spokane, Wash. A celebration life was held June 13 at 3 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Cottage Grove. Arrangements under the care of Smith-Lund-Mills Fu- neral Chapel, Cottage Grove. Memorial notice Gloria Lupe Cantu-Huffman, 70, of Springfi eld passed away May 10, 2015. A Memorial Mass was held Friday, June 12 at St. Alice Catholic Church, located at 1520 F Street in Springfi eld. Arrangements by Sunset Hill Funeral Home in Eugene. Beatrice F. Bassler 1928-2015 Beatrice F. Bassler, 87, of Cot- tage Grove died June 5, 2015. She was born on May 27, 1928 in Hanford, Calif. to Francisco Borges and Maria Macqueline (Simas) Va- ladao. She was a food ser- vice man- ager for public schools in Pismo Beach, Calif. Beatrice was also a home- maker and caregiver. She en- joyed cooking, casinos, and playing cards and games. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Cottage Grove, and SPRSI and IDES, which are both Por- tuguese Lodges. Beatrice married Manuel Teixeira on Nov. 3, 1945 in Lemoore, Calif. He passed away on June 6, 1979. She later mar- ried Michael J. Bassler on July 29, 2006 at the Village Green in Cottage Grove. She is survived by daughter, Macqueline (Allen) Bridges of Drain; son, Ed Teixeira of Yoncalla; stepchildren, Kirk (Tina) Bassler, Jim (Raylin) Bassler, Paul (Dorothy) Bassler, Chris (Kaz) Bassler, and Annie Bassler; sister, Mary Freitas; 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grand- children; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Bassler in 2014, and by a son, Manuel Teixeira, Jr. on Sept. 11, 2001. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 12 at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Cot- tage Grove. A Rosary was held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 11 at Smith-Lund-Mills Chapel. Burial will be in Roseburg Na- tional Cemetery. Jack John Rodger Ellingson 1931-2015 Jack John Rodger Ellingson, 84, of Cottage Grove passed away June 6, 2015. He was born March 20, 1931 in Broken Bow, Nebr. to George and Grace (David) El- lingson. He com- p l e t e d e i g h t h grade and served in the U.S. Army. CODY ALLEN ANDERSON Why Choose Us Grant's Hearing Centers BIRTHS Celebration of Life for he and Jane Schaffer were mar- ried. Jack was an excellent long- haul truck driver, retiring in 1996. He drove cross country the last six years with his wife, which he thoroughly enjoyed, and the last two years in Or- egon. He made birdhouses and was an avid gardener. He loved to socialize, and was very gener- ous with others. He had a great sense of humor and was very witty. He was a member of the Cottage Grove Seventh-day Ad- ventist Church. Survivors include his wife, Jane Ellingson of Cottage Grove, three daughters, Darcy Zentner and husband Jim of Coos Bay, Ore., Grace Haight of Washington, and Karen El- lingson of Oregon, a son, John M. Ellingson of Arizona, two sisters, Emma Lippincott and Carol Michal, both of Oregon, nine grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and by a grand- daughter, Rhiannon Hull. A private service will be held. He was the eldest son of Bass and Callie (Walker) Dockery of North Carolina. He had two brothers and nine sisters. He is survived by a son, Johnny and his wife Judy of Dorena, OR, a daughter, Connie Moss of Drain, OR, and a son, Kenny Dockery of Cottage Grove, OR. He had eight grandchildren, 13 great and four great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nema, and two grandsons, Jimmy Plueard and John Austin Plueard. Frank came to Oregon as a young man and began working in the logging industry until he retired. He liked to hunt and fi sh and wood cutting in Eastern Oregon and especially going camping with all of the family and telling lots of stories. We will miss him Dearly.
