Circus clown Leo Acton said before the show that the circus performs almost exclusively for small towns along its route, and the circus headed to Halsey for a show on Sunday. Based in Hugo, Okla., the circus claims to perform in over 200 towns in 17 states. The Arlise Unicycle Troupe performs. The circus was not without its detractors, and a group of protest- ers picketed the event throughout, handing out fl yers prepared by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals that the protesters said detailed the circus' poor treatment of animals over a number of years.
