IN MEMORIAM Evelyn “Joy” Stiff 1930-2015 Linda Jane Carver 1939-2015 Evelyn “Joy” Stiff, 84, of Springfi eld passed away Jan. 19, 2015. She was born Oct. 10, 1930 in Edler, Baca County, Colo. to Rufus and Dora (Turner) Imel. E v e - lyn grad- u a t e d from Lo- rane High School in 1948 and attended Lane Com- munity College. On Aug. 28, 1948 in Cottage Grove, she and Keith Stiff were married. Evelyn worked at the pro shop at Hidden Valley Golf Course, owned a cake decorat- ing business and volunteered at the Chamber of Commerce. She enjoyed bowling, sewing, quilting, hot air balloons, read- ing and Bible study. She served as President of the Eugene Women’s Bowling Association, was an Oregon State Bowling Association delegate, and was a Girl Scout Leader. She is survived by her husband, Keith Stiff of Springfi eld; four daughters, Kay Phillips (Conley) of Cot- tage Grove, Rhonda Whetham of Tharwa, Australian Capi- tal Territory, Australia, Debra Monsive (Tom) of Springfi eld, and Toni Bevard (Bruce) of San Jose Del Cabo, Baja California Sur. Mexico, a son, Dan Stiff (Umi) of Tempur, Jawa Timur, Indonesia, 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. A graveside service was held Jan. 24 at Fir Grove Cemetery in Cottage Grove. In lieu of fl owers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Arrangements under the care of Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Cha- pel, Cottage Grove. Linda Jane Carver, 75, of Cot- tage Grove passed away Jan. 19, 2015 from Alzheimer’s. She was born July 5, 1939 in Cottage Grove to LeRoy and Marjorie (Gleason) Potter. On Nov. 24, 1983 in Las Vegas, Nevada, she and James L. Carver were married. Linda worked as a public ac- countant for 35 years, owning and operating Carver’s Book- keeping and Accounting. She enjoyed hunting, fi sh- ing, camping, barrel racing and horses and was the Cottage Grove Rodeo Queen. Linda was a member of the Valley Three Dancing Band. She was good at anything she decided to do. Survivors include her hus- band, James L. Carver of Cot- tage Grove, four step-sons, Rob Carver (Tami) of Santa Cruz, Calif., Brad Carver (Leanne) of San Antonio, Texas, Kevin Carv- er (Joyce) of Cottage Grove, and Chuck Carver (Katrina) of Al- sea, Oregon, a brother, LeRoy Potter of Baker City, Oregon, a sister, Leanna Crawford of Las Vegas, Nevada, nine grandchil- dren and ten great-grandchil- dren with one on the way. A memorial will be held Monday, Feb. 2, at 1 p.m. at Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Cha- pel, Cottage Grove. Death Notices Sandi Lucille Maddess, 53, of Cottage Grove passed away Jan. 18, 2015. Arrangements under the care of Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel, Cottage Grove. Myrna L. Berry 1929-2015 Myrna L. Berry, 85, of Drain, Oregon passed away Jan. 23, 2015. She was born May 17, 1929 in Salem, Idaho to William and Belva (Park) Hope. On June 11, 1947 in Hibbard, Idaho, she and William A. Berry were married. He passed away July 30, 2001. Myrna drove school bus for 34 years for the Drain School District. She enjoyed bingo, em- broidery, reading lots of books and spending time with her kids. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Lat- ter-day Saints. Survivors include three daugh- ters, Elizabeth Ann McConkey (Tony) of Ontario, Ore., Connie Perdue (Gary) of Castle Rock, Wash., and Lynn Anderson (Ron) of Drain, two sons, Larry Berry (Tammy) of Drain, and Jerry Berry (JoAnn) of Suther- lin, Ore., 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be held today, Jan. 28, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Cha- pel in Cottage Grove. A funeral will be held Jan. 29 at 2 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Cottage Grove. Burial will be Jan. 30 at Canyon City Cemetery. Ar- rangements under the care of Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Cha- pel, Cottage Grove. Richard J. "Dick" Klansnic 1923-2015 Richard J. "Dick" Klansnic, 92, of Cottage Grove passed away Jan. 26, 2015. He was born Jan. 24, 1923 in Enumclaw, Wash. to John and Christine (Puttman) Klansnic. Dick at- t e n d e d Crain El- e m e n - tary School in Enumclaw and graduated from high school in 1941. He attended Washington State University and served in the Army as a bombardier in WWII. Elizabeth "Betty" Fisher 1923 - 2014 Celebration of Life Richard worked for Weyer- haeuser for over 30 years. Prior to retiring, he was the Mainte- nance Superintendent of the en- tire Cottage Grove Weyerhaeus- er plant. Richard was an avid golfer. He enjoyed golfi ng with his wife of 50 years, Margaret Ann (Pug). She passed away in 1998. He loved fi shing with his friends and often took his grandsons with him. You could also see him over the years building beautiful furniture. After the loss of his fi rst wife, he married Caroline Turpin 14 years ago. He is survived by his wife,Caroline (Turpin) Klansn- ic, his three children, Stephen Klansnic, Sr., Thomas Klansnic, and Susan (Klansnic) Rikala, fi ve grandchildren, eight great- grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and a sister, Lorie of Renton, Wash. He was preceded in death by his fi rst wife, Margaret Ann Klansnic, a brother, James Klansnic, and a sister, Cecelia Richter. Rosary will be held Jan. 30 at 7 p.m. at Smith-Lund-Mills Fu- neral Chapel in Cottage Grove. A Catholic Mass will be held Jan. 31 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Cottage Grove with recep- tion to follow at the Parish Hall. Burial will be at Mt.
