H. Chambers mill in their next pay- envelopes when they will be paid at the rate of $2.00 a day, instead of $1.75, as heretofore. The men have not yet been notified of the rise and it do«« not apply to the men in the logging camps. It is effective from Feb. 15. Henry W. Churchill Dies. Henry W. Churchill, formerly of Cot tage Grove, died suddenly of heart failure while viaiting his daughter in Los Angeles. He was born in Iowa Dee. 8, 1848, and with his parents crossed the plains by ox teams and located west o f Rose- burg in 1853. In 1872 he married Elyse- beth Cathcart and rnised a family of six daughters. Mrs. Churchill and two «laughters, Blanche Churchill and Bur- netta Brestow, have died. The sur viving children are Mrs. Eva Pick..rd of Portland; Mra. A 1 lace Baker of Portland; Mrs. l’ earle Burnfield of Los Angeles; Mra. Grace Wagner of Los Angeles. M*-- Churchill was a member of Mountain lodge No. 103, 1. O. O. F., of Drain, where he had been engaged in contract work of late years. In early days he gave valuable ser vice to the government in fighting against hostile Indians.
