A story of a pure, unsuspecting woman who had been accidently injured while touring in nn automobile, when in her convalescence she meets a married man who realizes he can only win her by of fering marriage. An illegal marriage is performed and later the man aban dons her and she becomes an outcast and a man-hater. After a short time she meets two men, also outcasts, and they conspire against the world and she becomes a notorious scheming woman and soon the epithet "V am pire” is applied to her. It would be only nat ural for most of us, when we only see part of the life of such a woman, to condemn her, but if you want to be fair and see her side of the story, you will find it fully told in this picture. Special for Saturday at tbe Rex. “ Up From the Depths” will be the Saturday offering at the Rex and it is a four-reel Mutual Master Picture which is enough to tell us it should be good. The triumph of good over evil in the lives of a mercenary revivalist and his innocent victim. Courtney Foot, in the stnr role, is nfforded an opportunity to display those talents which have made him a favorite. His portrayal of the grafting evangelist is a wonderful characterization. Delight ful Gladys Brockwell plays, with win ning sweetness and dramatic intensity, the part of the young girl who comes “ up from the depths” into her true birthright as a wife and mother.
