I Moore, county school superintendent, 'indicate that this year’s annual school rally and spelling contest, which will be held May 14 and 15, will be much larger than last year. Mr. Moore recently sent out a list of questions to the teachers asking what preparations are being made, and the replies show that nearly every school in the county will take part. Home of the towns are taking particu lar interest in the event. Marcola and Wendling will send a special train car rying a large part o f the population of both placea and bringing several edura tionnl floats to be entered in the pnrade. The best of the exhibits at the Junction City school fair will also be entered. This year’s rally will last two days, and the exhibits will lie on view from noon on Friday till Saturday evening so as to give ample time for judging and for the inspection of visitors. The finals of the county spelling con test will be held at the assembly room of the high school and the second floor rooms of the Central school building. The contest will be a written one, the instructors pronouncing the words and the contestants writing them. partmenl. Junior Kiiworth League at 3:00, Mrs. Helen Aldrich, supermten ■lent. Twelve women are making a canvass of the most remote parts of England for recruits for Lord Kitchener’s army. Owing to the depression caused by the war female servants are the only kind o f labor wanted in the British colonies. After women got the vote in New Zealand waitresses who were formerly paid 8 shillings a week received 25 shillings. lemale typists are proving to be the best rifle shots at the several ranges now being set up throughout England. The I nited States Supreme Court has ruled that women can also be indicted under the Mann white slave aet. The Tennessee legislature has passed a resolution for a atate vote on the question o f admitting women to the right of suffrnge. Mrs. George L.
