It is a good plan to ’make these traps so that they may be fitted into an open window, admitting flies from both inside a’nd out, prevent ing them from getting out to manure and rubbish piles to breed, or into the house to feed. For use in a stable win dow they may be made the size of the window or smaller and the open space in the window covered with guriny sacking or boards. The other windows should then be diwkened. Flies multiply very rapidly, a genera tion breeding in ten days. Each female (and half the flies are females), lay 150 eggs every ten days and the young ones begin laying when ten days old, so that a single pair of flies will, in three months, produce 5,746,670,500 flies or approximately 143,675 bushels.
