‘ ‘ Honest John’ ’ has made “ some”
reputation as Governor and other things in the Gopher State, and if he
uses the same tactics on President Huerta that he did on the editor of
the St. Paul Dispatch, things may again become normal in that turbu­
lent republic to the south. H alf an hour after John was succeeded as
Governor by a Republican he walked into the office of the St. Paul
Dispatch, which had been abusing him, entered the editorial sanctum
and with a flat-handed movement to the side of the face precipitated
the editor onto the floor. Mexico needs some of that stuff.
Secretary of the Treasury McAdoo has announced that he will de­
posit forty to fifty millions of government money to assist in moving
the crops, and will even accept gilt-edged commercial paper as security.
A few more such sensible moves as that and the people will feel like
retaining a democratic administration. It's the people money.
