When you awake tomorrow morn and hear those ear-splitting, nerve-racking head-splitting sounds, you may know that another o f Cottage Grove's famous Fourth o f July celebrations has com menced and that there will be no more sleep for twenty-four hours or more— and with the program that haa been arranged you w ill have no trouble keeping awake. A t 9:30 Cottage Grove's famous military band w ill endeavor to put harmony into the noise o f the day. A t 10 o’ clock w ill ¿occur the pageant o f floats, followed by a program in tbe park beginning at 11 o’clock. Rev. J. T. Moore w ill deliver the patriotic ad dress. Following a big basket dinner the sports w ill commence. The fol lowing prizes have been arranged : Floats. Best decorated auto, $5; second, 2.50. Best decorated bicycle, $2.50; sec ond, $1. Best float, $10; second, $5. Sports. Boys’ foot race, first #2.50; second, IL G irls’ foot race, first, $2.50; second, G. G. Warner is engaged for the city this week checking up w ater users and making a complete report o f all taps, etc. This work is being done for the purpose o f equalizing all rates and put ting the department on a business basis. It is the first time data has been prepared from which a complete adjustment could be made. A complete schedule o f rates was adopted at the last monthly meeting o f the city council, but these rates w ill affect few but large users except where taps are in use that are not be ing charged for. The only radical change o f rates in ia in those charged manufacturing es tablishments.
