Hood River, Or., Nov. 7.—The excessive traffic over newly-im proved portions of the East Side macadam road have caused por tions of the highway to go to pieces. Although workmen com pleted the improvement only sev eral weeks ago, holes several feet deep have been cut in a long stretch and the highway, used more than any other in the valley is fast becoming impassable. G. H. Stanton, supervisor o f the East Side road district, who thinks the new work was not given time to settle, has recommended that the chuckholes be filled with crushed rock.
