HOLMES PASSES AWAY AT COW CREEK; RANCH FUNERAL TODAY. CharCes G. HOumes, one of the beat known, stockmen of Wallowa county, died at 3 o'clock Monday morning at hia stock camip on Cow Creek, about 60 miles northeast of this eilty, of uraemlc poisoning. Dr. J. H. Thonrpson. of Joseph, and neph ew, Fred Holmes, of tihls city, were with hdmr when, he, passed) away. The Doctor came up tine trail to Imnaha bridge Monday mounding and phoned the sad message; to W. Charles Gabriel Holmes, son. of L. R. and Jane, (Gabriel') Holmes was bora in. Salt Lake Cllty, Utah, thence to Walla Walla, coming 'thru southern Idaho, cross' ithe Sniake, up Powder Valley toto the, Gramde Rondie and across Ihe Blue; Mountains. - In 1868 the elder Holmes brought his family to Cove and there made his home until his death about 20 years ago.
