H. A. Galloway wits called to his old
home, Aledo, 111., Sunday, by a tel
egram telling of .the severe illness of
his mother, who sustained a fractured
hip in a fall, and owing to her advanced'
age, 81 years, is not expected to recover.

Mrs. R. M. Fay loft Monday morning
for a visit with her daughter at
Fletcher, Ida. Mrs. Fay and daughter,
Miss Edith, are making preparations to
move in about two weeks to Seattle,
Wash.

Mrs Minnie Hollembaek, of Aledo

Mr. and Mrs..W. A. Moss drove out
to Chico Sunday and brought home
home their little son, Guy, who had
been visiting at the home of S. T. Tib
bett for several weeks. Miss Merle
Moss, also a guest at the Tibbett home,
remained for a longer visit.
Miss Nanne Heaton was taken to La
Graude hospital, Sunday, by Drs C. A.
Ault and C. T. Hockett, who on Mon
day performed! a critical surgical
operation on the paitient. late im

The La Grande district Epworth
League convention will meet in this
ity on Monday evening, August 15,
and continue through Tuesday and
Wednesday. Preparations are being
made to entertain a large number of
delegates. It is expected that a num
ber of prominent speakers will be
present, aicong them President Hcman
of Willamette University, Dr. Powell
of Caldwell, Ida., Dr. Gillilan, and
probably Bishop Smith, who will be
coming in for the conference at Joseph,
will stop pff here and address the convention.
