The "Home Doctrine" that does more than any other one thing to build up the ma'erlal prosperity of a community, la thua stated In Good win's Weekly: Encourage every home enterprise. Take an Interest In every industry, invest liberally in the stock of faith and good will, and distribute it all over your city, in every factory, ev ery work shop, every business house. It will pay you large dividends, and will coat very little. It can never de preciate In value. It wlM always be rJb'Ove par. Buy home made goods. Aak your merchant Cor them. Wear home made garments, eat home made urUeles of food, sleep on home made beds, read home made newspapers. In this way the money you spend la only loaned. It will come back to you again with ta'eret. Praise up your city don't run It down. Stand by your merchants and manufactur ers tihey are the bone and sinew of your municipal structure. Stand by your churches r.(nd your schools they Aire the hopes elf your future. Stand by your preas It U the tireless sen tinel that guards your Interest. The price of eturapage is con stantly going up. This does mot help the wages of labor In any way. It makes timber land higher, but the timber worker has no more to show for it. He is to'd that the price of labor depends upon the supply. If the land ownors grab the timber and hold It out of use that makes Jobs scarcer wages lower and timber higher. ' Through the alchemy of modern commerce the wages the la borer don't get become the millions the land monopollat does get. Ore gon has given Its timber land for the most part to a lot of alien sharks, who might as weM be English dukes, as some of them are, to whom we pay tribute. There la a string to every grant of land In all countries That la the right of taxation. We will pull It In Oregon one of these daya, saye the Labor Press, as they are doing In New Zealand, and get' ting ready to do in England. Dr. John McLoughlln and his work in aiding the early Battlers at Ore gon City wl!4 not be forgotten and by a decisive vote, this pioneer city has declared It wi t maintain the his torlo home of Dr. McLoughlin as a public monument o his work. This tribute to Dr. McLoughlln wilt meet with the hearty approval of all right thinking people everywhere. Advertising a locality by moans of a railroad folder is good and It U money well sp?nt, but th8 town that advertise itse'f with a good local paper oilnga more attention to Itself, doMar for dollar, than all the railroad pamphlets In the world.
