Paradise, Nov. 17 R. L. Day of Enterpri.se was here on business this week. Walter Cochran and Blanche Barnes were married one day last week at Lewlston. Born, to the wife of William How ell, a 13 pound boy, November 10. Taft was elect3d president of the United States but bogs have come down and money Is not any easier to get than , it wa3 before he was elected. W. W. White of Enterprise was in these parts on business a short time i ago. I The followers of Robert Raikes have organized a Sunday school at the Willis Straley hall. A literary and dance combined was I organized at the postoffice hall. A j basket social was held there Friday night and $33.31 was raised to buy an organ for the hall. C. C. Taplin, road oversesr on the Washington side, will begin work on Doer Creek road today. The parties that were Indicted for soiling whisky and for assault have returned from circuit court. The two cases were put over because there was no prosecuting witness. They should have been thrown out, as the writer knows it is putting cost on the county for nothing. All the partici pants In the drunken row should have been fined and thus ended the matter. !!! :f t Bail She'.ton and wife were up from' the river yesterday. George Hendrickson, Joe Beach and Albert Wilson started with their hogs for Lewlston, yesterday. The Paradise sawmill is sawing lumber now. They have not been able to supply the demand for lum ber this summer. Al Graham, El Applegate and Tom Barnes are going to work on the Deer creek road. There has bean soma complaint of our last two schools as regards small scholars. In the district school A B C. pupils who do not know their let ters are abused for not knowing their le3son3. Now, how can a small pupil learn a lesson and not know hi3 letters. The A B C scholars have books, primers, they are called, with no A B C le3sons In them. No person can 'study without help unless he can spell or know his A B Cs. The directors should look after such things. LOST. Chased gold locket off watch fob. Grouse Girl Marries Siimmerville Man Wedding of Pretty Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. Richman Troy News. Troy, Nov. 21 Wedding bells rang Sunday night, November 15, for Mr. Albert Baker of Summerville, and Miss Lola Richman, of Crouse. I surely wish them a long, peaceful and happy life In their Summerville home. No one can speak of them except In the highest terms. Young and old and all-enjoyed a splendid dance given at Troy Wed nesday by Mr. Baker to show his many friends that a portion of his heart is with them yet. Elmer Baker and Alva Carter of Summer.ville were vlistors at Troy about a week and will clear the way to Summerville for the newly married aouple. Troy school Is progressing finely with Prof. Perry Foster at the helm :o steer the bark of knowledge up the stream of life for the children. The school Is promising to be well attended. There are three students from outside districts here going to school. Miss Wllma Courtney and Miss Grace Williams of Eden and Willie, the adopted son of Mr. and Mrs. George Beecher. When the new school house now under con struction is completed we will be prepared for other new scholars. A. T. Shuman made a trip to Lewlston, started Sunday, in the in terests of the school, but has stayed over time and Mrs. A. T. Shuman and children as well as the board of the district and others are most anxious about him, though Lewlston has gone dry the last election. Think ing again, however, Mayor Flcker of Troy went with him and if they should get eight or ten bottles 1 guess they could get back. At any rate, we will be hopeful and not consider them lost yet.
