Now that the question of "wet" or "drv" is a-iain bef, to be voted on at the general elec tion in june, the above question becomes a bertinent mm f.. il. consi.leration of ach voter of the county. To properly answer the quesiiun requires a comparison of conditions n they exist today and as they exi&ted two years ago be fore liroli'lli tion liPrnniA .Pfil.... Two years ago at this time eleven saloons were in operation in the county. Each of them was appar ently doing a thriving business. Just what was the gross income for the eleven saloons per annum we are unable. to say, but that it aggregated a very laree sura will nit be disputed.' To pay the annual license and operating ex- would destroy the tirosneriiv .,f the county. As a further evidence of the beneficial effects of prohibi tion noon the commercial prosper ity of the courty, let it be noted Mat moft of the. buildinps formerly used for saloons are now used for mer cantile purposes, thus increasing the commercial business of the county. In almost every instance the saloon has been succeeded by a grocery, general merchandise or some other useful urnl beneficial business, and in manv in. stances Hie saloon men tlu n selves have become merchants doing a prosperous business and have declared tlu ir inten tions uever totctum to the auloon bus hies. Are these facts not a sufficient answer to the. question, "Has prohibition helped or hurt the basinets interests of Wullowa county?'' . . From a moral standpoint, how lias prohibition affected the county? Will any niun dare deny that the moral tone of the couuty bus b en im proved undor the effects of the prohibi tion law ?
