Gee! but commissioner candidates are scarce. 'Tis reported that Wallowa people are in favor of building' a court house. In fact nearly everybody says it's time the county had a decent place for hold ing court, transacting public business and storage of public documents and records. There U a slight difference as to the exact location' of the building that June will wipe out. . Friends from all parts of the county are urging J. A. French to run for county judge. ' He sure would know the job and where economies could be practiced in the interest of the tax payers. ( Registration is slow at the clerk's office, only Xa. 94 b i.ng; reached i Mon day. The Arko and Flora schools have agreed to match their strength in a 'debate at Arko school next Saturday I night.- The question is, "Resolved that the Indian has suffered more at. the hands of the U. Mr. Eberhard will sign state ment No. 1, pledging himeelf to vote for the popular choice for U. 8. senator. J. W. Kerns, the popular superin tendent of county schools, has been so busy with school matters that he hasn't had time to send but bis petitions for nomination for sheriff on the Repub lican ticket, but -will start them over the county in a day or two. F. A. Reavis hts out petitions for nomination for county treasurer-on tbe Democratio ticket. He is the present incumbent bt that position and if absence of all criticism of the conduct of the office is a criterion he has filled the bill satisfactorily. J. C. Conley, principal of the Joseph schools, is asking for the Republican nomination for the office of county superintendent of schools. Few if any men are better known in the county, as Mr. Conley formerly filled the position to which he now seeks re-election. He is evidently not afraid of his lecord, and that'd a pretty good recommend. H. N.
