DEATH RECORD. Judge H. E. Courtnev of Baker City died at his home there, January 17, after a long illness of heart trouble. He is survived by his widow and a sou, and also by a brother. Dr. H. A. Courtney of Portlail. The decea-sed was a native of Ire land. He came to liaker City some thing over 20 years ago, and was for many years prominent in the Baker bar. During the days of the demo cratic-populist fusion he was elected district attornev for Baker. Union and Wallowa counties and was sue ceabful as a prosecutor. Ethel Mav Washburn was born at Argyle, Lee county, lowa, February 1S76, and was married there in ls'J3, to S. D. Cox. She contract ed lung disease some years ago, and in hopes of benefitting her health the family has moved from place to place in the Northwest. They have been residing in Enterprise about two moaths. Mr. Cox following his trade of pai.r.er. Mns. Cox passed away Thursday aftemooa at 4 o'clock. Funeral was from the home Friday at 2:30 p. m., Rev. C. E.
