Arrives from Springfield Rev. Miller, who accepted the call of the Baptist church of this city, arrived here this miming from Springfield. He will appear In the local pulpit Sunday. Home from California- Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Patterson arrived home Tuesday from a trip In California to visit with their daughter, Mrs. Fansteel and hus band. Mrs. Potter, another daugb ter, was also visiting with Mrs. Fan steel and both daughters accompan led the parents home, and will visit In Ashland for some time. Sale of Property- Mrs. Myrtle Boslough has sold her property on Hillcrest place to A. B Mackenzie. The deal was made by the E. T. Staples realty agency. Service Station Progressing The Standard Oil service station on North Main street is progressing nicely, the steel work being all in place, and the electrical and cement work will likely be completed today. The buidlng is being painted, as is the fence which Ms being built In the rear of the station. Granite will be hauled to fill In the drives beginning tomorrow. Will Meet This Evening The Past Masters' association of southern Oregon, including Masonic lodges In Jackson and Josephine countfes, will meet at Masonic hall this evening. Change of Messenger Boy Earl Utter, who has been deliver ing telegrams for the Western Un ion for several months past, resigned his position Wednesday morning. His place was taken by Roy McCoy. Visit ReUU Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Roberts motor ed up from the ranch near Med ford and spent Sunday with their sisters, Mesdames E. E. Gall and Lulu Van Wegen. On their return home In the evening they were ac companled by their sisters and Mr. and Mrs. Merrltt Randies and baby Robert, who went with them to the cemetery at Central Point, where they decorated the graves of rela tives, and then went on to the ranch where they made a short visit before returning home la 'FiInco on Bwdness E. T. Staples, who has been In California on business for several days, has written friends that he Is now in San Francisco. Leave for Portland The Misses Alice Craig and Lola Couey, who have been employed at the local telephone exchange for several months past, left for Port land Sunday. Miss Pearl Craig, who has been visiting lth her sister Alice, accompanied them on the trip. New Telephone Operator Mrs. Emma Murphy has taken a position as operator at the local tel ephone exchange, having begun work there Sunday morning. Here from Canada- Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Salr have ar rived from Battleford, Sask., to visit Mrs. Salr's mother, Mrs. Patterson, on Fourth street. They spent three weeks on their way here, stopping at Vancouver, B. C, Seattle anfl Portland to visit for a short time. They are very much delighted with our city and expect to remain inde finitely, Mr. Salr having taken a position in the Fourth Street barber shop for the present. Goes to Visit Mother Mrs. F. H. Stock and Relnhart Krug gel spent Friday afternoon along the banks pf Rogue river fighting the salmon in an effort to prevent them from all getting out of the river at the same time. On Way to Ashland Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Whlted and daughter left Vlsalla, Calif., today for Ashland. They will come by the way of San Francisco and pick up another daughter, who will accom pany them here. They will4 visit with friends in Ashland for a week or two before returning home. He was In a San Francisco hospital while sick. Visiting Relatives Mrs. Du Bose and children are visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. 0. Kllburn, on Beach street, while Mr. Du Bose, who is a Southern Pa cific engineer, Is ill at the Granite City hospital. HIKE TO LAMB'S MINE ' DECORATION DAY Makes Trip to Grants Pass- Mrs. J. II. Suggs and daughter Betty Jane made a trip to Grants Pass Saturday and visited the mine which Mr. Suggs is working.
