The Grants Pass debating
teams defeated the Ashland
teams both at Ashland and at
Grants Pass last night. The de
bate was on the subject of the
Severance Tax, with Ashland
taking the negative at Grants
Pass and the affirmative here.
The Judges here were Clarence
Meeker, John Carkin and B. H.
Conkle. of Medford. The de
cision in both places was 2 to
1 in favor of the Grants Pass
team.
The Ashland team debating
here was Roland Parks and
Warren Doremus against Eliza
beth Flfleld and Mildred Whaler
of 'Grants Pass, while Ellen
Galey and Dick Joy represented
Ashland at Orants Pass. About
60 attended tbe debate here, In
the Jilgh school auditorium,
which was excellent from every
standpoint and well appreciated.
The two defeats of last night
automatically eliminate the Ash
land teams from the conference

stated.
