The high school is Justifiably proud of the fact th at one of its num ber won a first prize in the Jackson County lighting contest. At assembly Thursday afternoon Barnard Joy was awarded a check for fifty dollars and an engraved; medal for w riting the best essay in the boys’ group in the coun ty. This contest attracted nation al interest and the fact th a t a local boy scored therein is a m at ter of pride to the entire student body. January 2 ushered in the in itial basketball games of the hoop season, which games gave to the local squad an easy victory over the Newberg quintet.
