gon. He is a native O regonian and
was with the coast and geodetic s u r­
vey in th is section of the sta te when
appointed to the United S tates naval
academ y in 1907. He a tte n d ed the
U niversity of Oregon in 1910, but
q u it in his second year to e n te r the
navy. He will open a rec ru itin g s 'a -
tlon in the city hall for the purpose
of exam ining all applicants and to
fu rn ish info rm atio n to those who de-

navy is in need of young men who
d esire to advance them selves and at

ELKS TO FURNISH ROOM
AT COMMUNITY HOSPITAL
At the re g u la r m eeting of the Elk
lodge S atu rd ay night, it was decided
to furnish a room at the C om m unity
hospital, and a com m ittee was ap ­
pointed to buy the necessary equip­
m ent which will am ount to approxi­
m ately $250.
It was also decided to give $50 to­
w ard s the new am bulance which citi­
zens a re endeavoring to buy for the
use of the public.
