Copper for many purposes has no
equal. It is easily worked, resists
corrosion, gives long service, has a
great salvage value and rem arkable
beauty.
For articles th a t are exposed to
the weather, such as screens, gu t
ters, roofs and ship fittings, it is
ideal.
In the m anufacture of automo
biles it already has an im portant
place, but many other parts and ac
cessories couid be made of copper
with advantage to the car owner.
For such purposes its lightness, dur
ability and non-corrosive qualities
make it especially suitable.
Its position as electrical m aterial
and as anti-fouling bottom s for ships
is acknowledged, while more general
use is urged for it in the m anufae
ture of ra d i.to rs for home and of
fice buddings and for automobiles
and trucks.

E ditor Tidings:
There has been so much said
about wasting A shland creek w ater
th a t you would think it was a crime
to use enough to take a decent bath
and our Mayor goes down to Jack-
sou’s Springs to get a free bath. Who
is responsible for th e w <ter th a t
wastes down the creek every spring.
Can anybody give a sane reason why
we should not use it?
We have voted for it, petitioned
for it and urged for it. Our mayor
says he is a m ajority man. Why
don’s he get busy, why don’t he give
us a chance to record our views on
the m eter question? Why don’t he
give us an itemized report of the wa
te r fund for the last two years? He
went into detail on how K lam ath
Falls was spending her money, but
on the very question th a t Ashland
people are most interested in he
shed no light. Aint we entitled to
know how our money is being spent?
Every bank th at handles the people’s
money gives us a report every six
months, so does the county.
I am interested in a corporation
in.Jackson county th a t handles the
people’s money of which the mayor
ha3 been a contributor. Some time
back he asked me for a financial
statem ent and it was furnished him,
which he was justly entitled to. Now
I want him to play fair with me. I
have a right to know, so does the
people what their money is being
spent for.
Don’t you think th a t you could
use some of th at wasted w ater to
m ature your crops and beautifuy
your lawns in July and August?
When you are restricted to a few
hours a day three days a week, when
in one hour a fte r you tu rn on your
faucet any old cow could drink the
w ater as fast as it will run out of a
% inch tap and there is places in
town you can’t get w ater enough to
wash your face in.
And you have charged more than
twice as much as we used to pay for
all the w ater we wanted. And you
pay for this in advance and then are
deprived of the water.
Does this look to you like obtain
ing money under false pretence.
W hat about using the w ater fund
and delivering it to other channels
w ithout putting it back which our
charter forbids. Oh. well, th echar
te r is only a scrap of paper anyway.
If you think this is legitim ate bus
iness, go out and try to do business
in your private affairs th a t way and
see where you will land at. Perm it
me to copy a statem ent in the city
council proceedings th a t was pub
lished in the Tidings Dec. 7th, 1921.
