The only place where Orlen tal liners could land In Seattle la at the dock of the Oregon Improvement Com pany, although suitable wharves could be put In upon short notice. "We need a better grade of steamer to China and Japan than w now have, and better accommodations for psjum-ii gcrs. Cur- tls, closed a very successful four months' term on the 3rd Inst. The number of pupils was greater than ever before, being thirteen more than the largest number enrolled In any month last year, and the attendance waa full from first to lost. In addition to the regular branches, classes In Itln and algebra were organised, and excellent progress made by all. The roll of honor contains the names of Maud Llslnby, Katie Ross, James Eaton, Willie Eaton. Jamie Itoss, and Eddie Sture. The following received prises for scholarship: Louis Itugley, Frankle Curtis. Victor Bender, William Llslnby, and Eddie Sture. School will be resumed after a three weeks' vacation. It Is a general source of regret that Prof. Curtis cannot re main hero to finish the full school term. which will expire In November, but having been elected to the prlnclpalshlp of one of the Portland schools, he will be compelled to leave tn time to bettln the fall term on September 14th.
