men were busily engaged blowing out
stumps with dynamite on the reservoir
site. Gangs of men are at work on both
ends of the tunnel, pushing the work
rapidly to a finish. At the city end the
work Is well In hand, the excavation be
ing some seventy-five feet In length, the
sides and roof being supported by heavy
timbers and cross beams. A tramway
has been built and regular mining cars
carry the refuse from the tunnel to the
dump. With this method the work will
proceed with great rapidity. The same
method will be used at the south end of

workmen will meet in the middle of the
tunnel and then the work of arching,
and cementing the bottom will commence.
Mr. Normlle will have the right of way

Is under way. The thoroutrhly business
like manner in which all of the work
Is laid out, with the well-equipped black
smith shop, powder house, geherad office
and private system of water works, shows
that a master hand is at the helm.
