A 6-cent stamp will now carry a letter to any civilised country of any Importance In the world. The only countries not now In the union are China, Morocco, the Orange Free State, and the Islands of Ascension, St. Helena, and ntcalrn. McQowan's cannery Is now connected with Astoria by telephone.
