The Oregon went out yesterday to San Francisco. Th ihro masted schooner Sailor Rnv. Cantaln Peterson, arrived In Seat tie from San Francisco snowy noon on Monday. "I hav always Iwa la aymptrxy with th union, men. but 1 fouaJ that they wanted to rua my fcuaUx. then I concluded to employ men who are not members of th union. The night before I left 'Frisco soma union men attempted to remove my crew. I had several men on tho watch. They were armed to the teeth, and I had in formed them that I would be respon sible for anything they did while pro tecting my property. During the night the union men made an attempt to get aboard. I was awakened by tho noise, and at the point of revolver we drove them away, I am going to He here a couple of nlghta and If any attempt Is made to steal my crew some one will eet hurt." Soon! after the .longshoremen had commenced discharging the Sailor Boy's cargo Chief Jackson called pn Captain Peterson. "If your crew wants to go to work", said the chief, "we'll protect them If It takes the entire force." Captain Peterson, however, was will lug that the longshoremen Should con tinue , but he asked the chief for police assistance so long as his schooner re mains In port. It is believed thatjthere will be more trouble before the Sailor Boy takes her departure. The City of Topeka arrived at Seat tie from Alaska, Monday, and la nnw taking coal at the Oregon Improve' " ment Company's bunkers. She carried general merchandise to Alaska, and her return cargo consisted largely of furs. The Morning Record, published In Juneau City, Alaska, says In Its edl tlon of Thursday, February J3d: "Monday evening at about fifteen minutes of 10 o'clock quite a severe shock of earthquake was felt In Juneau In stores and dwelling houses the dish es, bottles, etc., rattled considerably, and the hanging lamps swayed for at least fifteen minutes after the shock. The vibrations seemed to be from the southeast to northwest, and was prob ably the severest shock ever felt In Ju neau, and It Is probable that In a short time we will hear of considerable dam age being done somewhere, and that the elements treated Alaska like the government has been treating It by giving us the tall end of the shock. The shock was severe enough to satisfy our curiosity, and If our little city pos sessed tall and stately btick building It Is more than probablo that consider able damage would have resulted." The steam schooner Signal, Captain Bendegard, arrived from San Francisco at Seattle on Sunday, having been seven days on the way, two days longer than usual. Captain Bendegard says the delay was owing to the Btrong head winds encountered. The vessel brought six hundred tons of freight In the Pletrlck line and Is discharging at Schwabacher's wharf, the first mer chandlse landed being forty boxes of .dynamite, which was handled with a good deal of care. On his last trip a non-union crew was kidnaped ofT the Signal, but Captain Bendegard hardly thinks It will occur again. , The steam collier Mackinaw went to Seattle Monday to load for the Black Diamond Coal Company for San Fran Cisco. Her dotaywaa caused by hard weather which broke her propeller and compelled her to put back i to San Francisco. LADIES ATTENTION. The patriotic and historic features of these Coins and their limited number, compared with the millions who want them our population is 66,000,000 have combined to create so great a demand for these World's Fair Souvenir Coins that they are already quoted at large premiums. Liberal offers from speculators, who wish to absorb them and reap enormous profits, have been rejected for the reason that This is the People's Fair We Are the People's 5eivants and a divided sense of duty confronts us We need $5,000,000 to fully carry out our announced plans, and We have decided to deal direct with the people To whom we are directly responsi ble among whom an equitable distribution of these National heirlooms should be made. The World s Fair Offer to the American People: That none of our plans for the people's profit be curtailed we must realize from the sale of 5,000,000 Souvenir World's Fair Fifty cent Silver Coins the sum of $5,000,000. This means $1.00 for each Coin, a much smaller sum than the people would have to pay for them if purchased through an indirect medium. Every patriotic man, woman and child should endeavor to own and cherish one of these Coins, as they will be valuable in future years a cherished object of family pride. Remember that only 5,000,000 Coins must be divided among 00,000,4300 peopie. 1 nesc uuins could be sold at a high premium to Syndicates, but we have enough confidence in the people to keep the price at a Dollar for each Coin, as this will make us realize $5,000,000 the sum needed to open the Fair's gates on the people's broad plan.
