Constipation
Demands prompt treatment. The re
sults of neglect may be serious. Avoid
all harsh and drastic purgatives, the
tendency of which is to weaken the
bowels. The best remedy is Ayer's
Pills. Being purely vegetable, their
action is prompt and their effect always
beneficial. They are an admirable
Liver and After-dinner pill, and every
where endorsed by the profession.
" Ayer's Pills are highly and univer
sally spoken of by the people about
here. 1 make daily use -of them in my
practice." Dr. I. E. Fowler, Bridge
port, Conn.
" I can recommend Ayer's Pills above
all others, having long proved their
value as a cathartic for myself and
family." J. T. Hess, Leithsville, Pa.
" For several years Ayer's Pills have
been used in my'family. We find them
an
Effective Remedy
for constipation and indigestion, and
are never without them in the house."
Moses Grenier, Lowell, Mass.
"I have used Ayer's Pills, for liver
troubles and indigestion, during many
years, and have always found them
rompt and efficient in their action."
i. N. Smith, Utica, N. Y.
' I suffered from constipation which
assumed such an obstinate form that I
feared it would cause a stoppage of the
bowels. Two boxes of Ayer's Pills ef
fected a complete cure." D. Burke,
Saco, Me.
"I have used Ayer's Pills for the past
thirty years and consider them an in
valuable family medicine. I know of
no better remedy for liver troubles,
and have always "found them a prompt
cure for dyspepsia." James Quiiiii, DO
Middle St., Hartford, Conn.
"Having been troubled with costive
ness, which seems inevitable with per
sons of sedentary habits, 1 have tried
Ayer's Pills, hoping for relief I am
glad to say that they haw served me
better than any other medicine I
arrive at this conclusion only after a
faithful trial of their merits." Samuel
T. Jones, Oak st , Boston, Mass.

A DUTY lO YOURSELF.
It is surprising that people will use a
common, ordinary pill when they can
secure a valuable English one lor the
same money. Dr. Acker's English pills
are .positive cure for sick-headache and
all liver troubles. They aresniall, sweet,
easily taken and do not gripe. ,1. W.

CAUTIOX TO MOTHERS,
Every mother is cautioned against
giving her child laudanum orparegoric;
it creates an unnatural craving for
stimulants which kills the mind or the
child. Acker's Baby Soother is spe
cially prepared to benefit children and
cure their pains. It is harmless and
contains no Opium or Morphine. Sold
by J. W. Conn, Druggist.
Never let a day pass without think
ing seriously, if only for moment, of
death. It will rob it of more than
half its terrors.
ARE YOU SKEPTICAL?
If so we will convince, you that Acker's
English Kemedy for the lungs is superi
or to all other preparations, and is a
positive cure for all Throat and Lung
troubles, Croup, 'Whooping Cough and
Colds. We guarantee the preparation
and will give you a sample bottle free.

Another Dam Broken.
Lancaster, O., July 21. One of
the most disastrous storms ever
known in the Hocking valley culmin
ated yesterday in the breaking of
Sharp's dam at Sugar Grove, on the
Hocking canal. The dam held in
store a large body of water that sup
plied the lower levels of the canal.
Heavy rains had filled the reservoir
to its banks, when suddenly the dam
gave way aud the water went out
through the valley, taking with it
every movable object. For twenty
mile3 the soil is plowed up. Trees,
fences, crop3 and hundreds of head
of live stock were swept away. No
lives were lost, because the houses
are situated on a bluff that overlooks
the valley. But the canal for miles
is n wreck, and thousands of feet of
tailroad track are washed awav.

If you do a good piece of work in
finance, journalism, politics, art,
music or literature, do not spoil it by
voluntarily speaking of it complacent
ly; and, on the other hand, do not
speak of it disparagingly.
Ayer's Pills promptly relieve stom
ach troubles, correct foul breath and
an unpleasant taste, and cure consti
pation. You never want to listen com
placently to injudicious or extrava
gant praise; nor to "funny" .stories at
the expense of women.

A PHYSICIAN'S OPINION.
"I have been practicing medicine for
twenty yean, ami have never been able to
put up a egctable compound that would,
like Simmons Liver Regulator, promptly
and effectively move the Liver to action,
and at the same time aid (instead of weak
ening) the digcatic and assimilative
powers of the system."
