JOYS OF OAMP LIFE.
All Modern Inconveniences, but No End

Did you ever go out camping?
That's the real way to take solid com
fort during a vacation. Avoid coun
try hotels aud farmhouses. The true-
path to enjoyment is to get a party of
three or four, hire a tent, load your
selves like packmules with bedding,
frying pans and a shotgun and go
somewhera The further you get
away from home the better ou will
enjoy yourself.
iTou have taken your gun along, and
some day you succeed in shooting a
couple of chipmunka aud a spnrrow,
perhaps. Yon don't know how to
dress them, and about one-quarter of
the flesh is wasted in the process. It
is easy enough to cook them. Put
them into a pot of water, throw in
some.salt and lot them boil. By and
by the flesh boils ofT the bones, aud
then you regret not having studied
up on this matter of cooking. If one
is really hungry the chances are thai
he will have to walk two or three
miles to procure a pint of milk aud a
few eggs from some farmer's wife.
Eggs are a food peculiarly
fit for the camper out, in that
everybody knows how to cook them.
But the best way is to beat them all
up together and soramble them. You
proceed to break them, one by one,
in a tin dipper, daubing your hands
and clothing liberally in the opera
tion. The last one is stale, aud you
suddenly decide you do uot caro for
eggs that day. With average camp
ing luck there will be a smart shower
every day, clearing off soou enongh
for your traps to dry before the
next one comes along to wot them
again,
Here is an extract from a letter
written in camp, which will illustrate
some of the beauties of the life:
"Howard and Dick have gone ofl
gunning, or trying to gun: Joe is out
side the tent, busy abont something,
and I have the first peaceful moment
I have had since we came here. This
is real fun. We are having an im
mense time. B,ain for four days, but
it is lovely this morning. I wish you
could see the bushes about here just
now. Every one presents some pic
turesque appearance, covered as they
are with overcoata.mbber aud woolen
blankets, drying, in the sun. I am
barefooted, a'itingjfor one of ray

Tho blockade of a rort is not more injurious
to its commerce than is oven tho temporary
obstruction of tho bowels to the health of tho
system. Constipation necessarily arrests tho

safest and most effective, as it is also the most
genial, laxative and anti-bilious modicino in
existence is Jlostetter's Stomach Bitters, and
it is mora than nrobablo that its sovereign
efficacy as a preventive and remedy for inter
mittent and remittent fover is largely duo to
its reformatory action upon the liver, an or
gan prejudicially involved in all malarial
rnrrmlaints. Persons with a tendency also to
rheumatic, neuralgic and kidney trouble can
not do better than to antagomzo it wim iios

checks it at the outset. Tho weak, moreover,

when the following dialogue between
a rough, jolly old commodore the

Commodore Mr. Tatuail, what
would be your course, supposing yon
were off a lee shore, the wind blowing
a gale, both anchors and your rudder
gone, all your canvas carried away,
and your ship senddiug rapidly
toward the breakers?"
"I cannot conceive, sir, thn4 such a

"Tut, tut, youug gentleman," said
tho sea-dog severely; "we must have
your opinion; suppose such a case to
have occurred."
Tatnall Well, sir; sails are all car

Commodore Ay, nil; every rag.
Tatnall Anchors gone, sir?
Commodore Ay, uot an uucommon
