Those who are in the habit of indulging in raw onions, says a medical man, may be consoled for the social disadvantages which en sue, by the fact that onions are about the best nervine known. No medicine is really so efficacious in cases of nervous prostration, and they tone up a worn out sys tem in a very short time. Paper bags, in which many arti cles are sent from the grocery store, should be saved for usre when blacking a stove. You can slip the hand into one of these and handle the brush just as well, and the hand will not be soiled and when through with them they can be dropped into the slove. A correspondent writes in the Scientific American that the woist toot ha he or neuralgia coming from the teeth may be sppedily and delightfully et.ded by the ap plication of a small bit ot cotton saturated in a strong solution of atnonin, to the defective tooth When putting away the silver tea or coffee pot which is not used every day, lay a little stick across the top under the cover. This will allow the fresh air to get in, aud prevent mustiness. General Grenfell, who is in charge of the English forces in the Soudan, is a portly man about six feet in height. He wears a long, drooping mustache and is never without a cigar in his mouth.
