The senate was in session less than half an hour tfiis morping. After prayer by Rcv. Mr. Rawlins, Steel offerecLa concurrent resolu tion to adjourn until 2 r. m. Mon day. Then 'Irvine moved to ad journ at 10:30 o'clock. Several senators left the chamber before adjournmentto catch the south bound train. CoffRSwell offered a resolution J directing chairmen of all senate committees to employ union vet erans as cferks 'when possible. Chandler opposed the resolution. He said the state of Oregon owes the soldiers nothing, and if any thing is due "them it is from the government of the United States, which they served. He said there were a great many needy ladies looking for clerkships, and some of them, ho thought, were mote deserving than the soldiers. Coggswell explained that he in troduced the resolution because two soldiers had spoken to him, explained that they were unable to find employment.
