THE "STAR'S" OPINION". London, Nov. 2. The Star, T. P. O'Connor's paper says lord Salisbury is not likely to listen to the demand for the dismissal of Phelps, United States minister, in retaliation for America's treatment of Sackville, and that such a step might do much harm and could do no good. All are agreed that Bayard's courtesy is scant, but we must not forget that he is technically right. Lord Sackville's indiscretion warranted tho demand for his recall. If Salisbury's reply to the demand amounted to a refusal, there is a good deal more to be said for the ac tion of America than Englishmen are juhi now -wining to admit PERSONAL MENTION. If there is any one thine more snr. prising than another, it is the faoility with which people forget. Perhaps, though, it is a wise dispensation that folks have the fortunate facility of forgetting. It only the bad were alone forgotten, and the good alone remembered. There are two kinds of forgetting. One is where the occur rence really passes from one's mem ory or thinking outfit. The other is where one doesn't think it worth while to give the matter thought enough to keep it remembered. The antipathy of cattlemen to sheepmen was illustrated in a pecu liar manner at Lakeview recently, says the East Oregonian. The coun ty pays a bounty on coyote scalps. An old Scotch gentleman came rush ing into the clerk's office last week and made the following repert: "Mr. Ueyd: You issued script for bounty on five scalps from Warner a few weeks ago. Well, sir, last night the varmints got into my flock and killed ten of my sheep. This morning I killed two of the coyotes; and, sir, -would !you believe me! Thev were scalped; both ears all gone, and their heads all raw. 'Inose blawsted cow boys had lassoed them, rin them down on horseback, and getting their scalps let them go to worry us sheep men." This was an actual occur rence, and the old gentleman wanted the district attorney to prosecute the boys, which he could not well do. The latest style of Gents' Boots and Shoes at P. J. Goodman's. It is to be hoped that they were at least picked up by some passing vessel and will be heard irom later at Liverpool or some other port. An Explanation. What is this "nervous trouble" with which so many seem now to be af flicted? If you will remember a few years ago the word Malaria was com paratively unknown, to-day it is as common as any word in the English language, yet this word covers only the meaning of another word used by our forefathers in times past. So it is with nervous diseases, as they and Malaria are intended to cover what our grandfathers 'called Billiousness, and all are caused by troubles that arise from a diseased condition of the Liver which in performing its func tions finding it cannot dispose of tne bile through the ordinary channel is compelled to pass it off through the system, causing nervous troubles, Malaria, Bilious Fever, etc. You who are suffering can well appreciate a cure. We recommend Green's Au gust t lower. Its cures are mar velons. Sneezing Catarrh. The distressing sneeze, sneczo, sneeze, tho acrid, watery discharges from the eyes and nose, the painful inflammation extending to the throat, the swelling of tho mucous lining, causing choking sensations, cough, ringing noises in the head and splitting headaches, how familar these symptoms are to thousands who suffer periodically from head colds or in fluenza and who live in ignorance of tho fact that a single application of Sanpord's Rad ical, Cuke J'ob Cataekh will afford in- eianianams reuej. But this treatment in cases of simple Catarrh gives but faint idea of what this remedy-will do in the chronic forms, where the breathing is obstructed by choking, putrid mucous ac cumulations, the hearing affected, smell and taste gone, throat ulcerated and hacking cuugu grauuuuy i&BienmB lcseit upon the de bilitated SVStem.
