Ayer's Hair Vigor keeps the hair soft
and pliant, imparts to it the lustre and
freshness of youth, causes it to grow
luxuriantly, eradicates Dandruff, cures
all scalp diseases, and is the most clean
ly of all hair preparations.
AVpR'C Hair Vigor has giren me
rl lll O perfect satisfaction. I was
nearlv bald.forsix years, dnring -which
time I used many hair preparations, but
without success. Indeed, what little
hair I had was growing thinner, until
1 tried Ayer's Hair Vigor. I used two
liottles of the Vigor, and my head is now
t ell covered with a new growth of hair.
Judson 1$. Chapel, Peahody, Mass.
U AID that has become weak, gray,
Ilriill an(i faded, may have new life
and color restored to it by the use of
Ayer's Hair Vigor. My hair was thin,
faded, and dry, and fell out in large
quantities. Ayer's Hair Vigor stopped
the falling, and restored my hair to its
original color. As a dressing for tho
hair, thi3 preparation has no equal.
Mary N. Hammond, Stillwater, Minn.
Wlfjnp youth, and beauty, in tho
V luUllj appearance of the hair, may
be preserved for an indefinite period by
the use of Ayer's Hair Vigor. A dis
ease of the scalp caused my hair to be
come harsh and dry, and to fall out
freely. Nothing I tried seemed to do
mo any good until I commenced using
Ayer's Hair Vigor. Three bottles of
this preparation restored my hair to a
healthy condition, and it is now soft
and pliant. My scalp is cured, and it
is also free from dandruff. Mrs. E. R.

Working For Other Men.
All honest men are working for
other men. If a man works ex
clusively for himself be is a coun
terfeiter, or a forger or a sneak
thief or per chance a highwayman.
All love of industry, all love of in
tegrity, all love of kindred, all
love of neighbor, all love of coun
try, and all love of humanity is
expressed in labor for others. For
this service thus performed a right
to a reward is required, and he for
whom the service is performed has
imposed on him the duty to render
the reward. Everywhere in civil
ized society men are thus working
for others.
Every man, in all the years of
his labor, toils for his fellow men,
and the practice is universal among
all civilized men and lasts from
generation to generation; and uni
versal practice is gradually be
coming crystalized into universal
habit. One man is trying to make
better houses for his neighbors,
another man is trying to make
better shoes for his neighbors, an
other man is trying to make better
laws for his neighbors, and an
other man is trying to make better
books for his neighbors. Every
man is thus forever dwelling upon
the welfare of his neighbors, and
making his best endeavor for their
good, and thus the habit grows
from generation to generation, un
til atIast some men forget that
there is reward for service, and
labor for their fellow men because
they love their fellow men.
They stood together by the gate,
the summer moon was gleaming,
the night was mild, the hour was
late, her silken hair was streaming:
"Oh, Algernon," the maiden cried,
"why are you plunged in sorrow?''
"Perchance, my love, perchance,"
he sighed, "l'Jl tell you al to
morrow; oh, I am burdened with
my woe, my soul for mercy's
pleading, my weary head is bend
ing low, my shattered heart is
bleeding." She took his trem
bling hand in hers, the fingers
gently pressing; .anon the murmur
of the hrs seemed all the world
caressing; the hemlocks darkly
bending o'er, in sympathy seemed
throbbing; upon its white and
pebbled shore the restless sea was
sobbing. "Tell, tell me all," the
maiden said, "methought the fu
ture shining; weep you for some
loved ono who's dead, or why this
sad repining? Your promised
bride J am, my dear, won by 3'our
ways beguiling; then why this woe
and weeping here, when you
should now be smiling." With
iron band, from oil the fence, be
pulled, in rage, a picket; "I'll
tell," he said, "and then eo hence
I've lost, love, my meal ticket."
Biliousness.
Wo have tested its virtues, personally,
and know that for Dyspepsia, Bilious
ness and Throbbing Headache, it is the
best medicine the world ever saw. "We
tried forty other remedies before Sim
mons I.iver Regulator, but none of them
gave us more than temporary relief;
the Regulator not only relieved but
cured us. II. II. Jones Ed. Telegraph
and Messenger, Macon. Ga.
The Videtle ventures the pre
diction that within the next five
years Chehalis county will be cov
ered with a net-work of logging
railroads. This will of necessity
be the case, as the timber lying
adjacent to the streams of water
will be greatly diminished in that
time, and also because of some of
the largest belts of desirable tim
ber can only be reached by such
roads.
Do not endanger your health by
using quinine, when malarial fe
vers can be more effectively treated
with Ayer's Ague Cure. Warranted
"Can't you spare me a little
money, papa?" "How much,
dear?" "Well, I want to buy
enough material to buy one of the
new-fashioned bathing suits
"How much is the stuff a yard?"
"Three dollars." "All right, my
dear, get what you want. Here is
half a dollar.

Wonders Worked By Machinery.
In the Maine corn packing in
dustry," as well as in all others, in
ventions have worked wonders.
Nowadays, instead of cutting the
corn by hand with a common corn
knife, improved cutters are used
and will cut. from 150 to 300 ears
per minute. The old fashioned
way of filling the can by means of
a tunnel and wooden plunger or
spoon has been superseded by the
perfect steam power filler with a
capacity of 20,000 cans per day,
has taken the place of the dish
cloth in the hands of the factory
girl. In the best equipped factories
of to-day, the services of half a
dozen persons, whose duty it was
to look over the corn after it was
cut from the ear and remove all
silk and other foreign matter, are
done away with by a single corn
silking machine, which does the
work thoroughly and rapidly. A
husking machine, with a capacity
of ninety bushels per hour, has
been invented by a Portland gen
tleman, and by its aid a bushel of
corn can be husked, cut, silked,
put in cans and made ready to be
hermetically sealed in three min
utes, or in less time than is re
quired to properly husk and silk a
single bushel of corn by hand.
"What b-e-a-u-tiful peaches,"
said an old lady, as she stopped at
a stall in the market and admired
a basket of early peaches. They
were covered with a pink gauze
and looked very tempting. The
old lady bought the peaches and
took them home. The next day
she appeared again at the stall
and showed the stall keeper a
small piece of the pink net, "Do
you keep that kind of veiling for
sale?" she asked. 1 he stall keep
er told her that he did not.
"Well," she said, "when I got
them peaches home, they were
small and sour and green, and 1
thought if I could get some of
that stuff that made them look so
pretty and plump in the basket,
I'd wear it myself. If it would
improve me as much as it did the
peaches, folks would think I'd
found the Elijah of life."
