''Inquisition taken at Westport on
tho 27th day of June, 1887, before J.
C. Boss, coroner of said county, upon
view of the body of W. E. Colvin,
then and there lying dead, upon the
oath of S. M. Coffinbury, W. T. Ross.
J. J. Beaten, W. R. McFarlane, C. A.
Root, Jim Van, good and lawful men
of the said county, who, being duly
summoned and sworn to inquire into
all the circumstances attending the
death ot the said W. E. Colvin, and
by whom the same was produced, and
in what manner, and when and
where the said W. E. Colvin came to
his death, do say upon their oaths
aferesaid: We, the jury in the above
cause, do find that tbo deceased was
a native of America, aged about 26
years, and that he came to his death
by drowning in the slough near West
port, on the 24th day of June, 1S87,
off from a whisky ecow kept by one
Charles Eaton. We also find that
his name was W. E. Colvin, and that
ho bore a good reputation in this lo
cality, and was a hard working man.
From the evidence adduced we nre
not satisfied whether there was a
